Episode 11

Kevin’s Confessional:

Raven got a phone call this morning from Lodi. He was pretty upset about what Brad had to tell him. So far none of us know why or what it was about, but I’m sure he’ll tell us when hes ready. Jericho is talking with him right now out by the pool.

“Why won’t you just tell me about it man” Jericho questions the once again somber Raven.
“I just don’t want to talk about it man” Raven replies, “it was just a rough thing for me to hear.”
“C’mon tell me I may be able to sympathize” Jericho pries a little harder.
In response Raven just gets up and walks back into the house. Jericho sits back and watches him. Raven passes by Buff on the way up the stairs, but seeing the despair on Raven’s face Buff decides just to let him be for the moment.

Buff’s Confessional:

I’ve seen that look before. Its a look of deep regret, morning, and thought. Somethings gone bad and he won’t tell anyone about it. If he doesn’t soon than its going to just eat him alive.

“Have you seen Raven anywhere” Kevin asks Hunter as he passes through the living room.
“Last I saw of him he went into your room” Hunter answers, “why what do you want.”
“I just need to talk to him thats all” Kevin sounds kind of worried too, “I checked in the room but didn’t see him, I’ll go check again.”
“Whats up with him” Hunter wonders to himself out loud.
“I don’t know” Rocky says coming into the room, “ but he got one of those mysterious phone calls that Raven got yesterday.”
“I wonder if any of us are going to get one” Hunter muses to himself.

Jericho’s Confessional:

Well now both Kevin and Raven are acting like this. They haven’t left their room in a day and I’ve been asked just to leave food by their door. Everytime the door opens its just dark in there and you can’t tell which of them grabbed the food. No one else has gotten a phone call, but one of them is going to have to tell us whats wrong soon.

“Thats it I can’t take it anymore” Hunter says at Kevin’s door, “we’re coming in whether you like it or not.”
As they say this the door locks, but thats not going to stop them. Hunter uses a screw driver and takes the door off its hinges. What they find is Raven and Kevin dressed all in black and huddled in the corner with old pictures from their days together in the Indys.

“It was a major accident” Raven begins to tell them later, “he was killed.”
“We were really good friends with him a few years back, its been awile since we had seen him” Kevin trails off into memories.
“Its weird to think of him as being dead” Raven says, “car accidents can be so brutal, and he was so young, only 18.”
“Its hard to lose a friend” Buff says trying to comfort them, “death is always a hard thing to deal with.”
“To think just a few years ago when he was 15 he was begging us to train him” Kevin says trailing off again.
“Its always worse when they are young and it all ends so suddenly” Hunter adds in.
“Poor kid probably never saw it coming” Kevin mumbles to himself, “he was such a good kid, parents must be devastated.”
“All the kids at school found out about it during their SAT testing” Raven says, “I bet those scores are going to be low this time around.”

The rest of the guys watch as Raven and Kevin pile into a taxi. The funeral was the next day and they really wanted to go.
“Poor guys” Jericho thinks to himself, “such a sensless tragedy, this is going to affect a lot of people for the rest of their lives.”
“You think they’ll be in bad shape for a while” Buff asks him as the drive off.
“This is something thats going to change their lives” Jericho says quietly, “change is not always good, not good at all.”
