Corvallis Middle School Ultimate Frisbee
What it is: An opportunity for players too young for Parks and Rec spring and summer leagues to experience ultimate frisbee. Players will have regularly scheduled practices and be organized into teams for games. At practices, we will build fundamental skills, general fitness and an appreciation for, and understanding of the spirit of the game through fun activities, drills, and spirit games.
Who can play: Middle school aged boys and girls (generally that means ages 10-13, but mature younger kids also are welcome). Teams and games are co-ed. Kids from Corvallis, Philomath, Albany and surrounding communities are invited. No previous experience is necessary.
Contact: League organizer and head coach is Andrew Buermeyer, email: polywags at comcast.net
What to bring: Loose, comfortable athletic clothing appropriate for the weather, soccer or turf shoes, plenty of water or Gatorade-type drink, and an ultimate Frisbee (175 g UPA-approved) if you have one.
When to go: Practices and games will be held Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings, July through start of school in Sep. Anyone can join at any time.
Why? The main goal is to provide a fun opportunity for kids to become involved in what can only be described as the ultimate sport! In the near-term future, we hope to build a middle school club team interested in traveling to some regional tournaments in the fall and spring. Long-term, we hope that interest at the middle school level will help sustain competitive teams for the local high schools.
