Region 795’s Board of Directors

There are some common requirements for all board members; some have additional requirements placed upon them by our National AYSO Bylaws. This list cannot come close to listing all the duties of each position. Rather, this list attempts to make people aware of the positions we have, and to give the general duties.

All Positions There is a monthly board meeting that lasts about 2 hours. Board members need internet access since most communications between board meetings take place via email. Board members rely on each other, sharing information and doing their part in a wide variety of tasks. Teamwork skills are very important, especially completing tasks on time, and trusting others to do the same.

Commissioner This position is “in charge” of everything, but focuses on making sure that the other board members have the support they need to get their jobs done. To be a regional commissioner you must have served as a board member in some other capacity for 2 years.

Assistant Commissioner This position helps the regional commissioner solve the wide variety of problems that come up during the year. This may involve filling in for the commissioner at Area or Section level meetings. This position is currently vacant.

Terasurer This position manages the finances of the region. The treasurer does not need to be a CPA, but it sure helps. The treasurer makes copies of all deposits, does an annual budget, pays our bills, reconciles the bank, and keeps a Quicken file updated. This position is presently vacant, and is being covered by the Commissioner.

Head Coach The head coach recruits division coordinators, supervises team formation, and works with division coordinators to resolve any coaching problems that may arise during the season.

Head Referee The head referee works with their staff to recruit and train new referees, retain and give advanced training to returning referees, schedule referees onto games. The head referee also works with other board members to resolve any referee problems that may arise during the season.

Division Coordinator The division coordinator is responsible for one division, such as U10B. They recruit coaches, help make sure that coaches get their required training, supervise the team formation. Once the season has started the division coordinator keeps in touch with the coaches to make sure things run smoothly.

Volunteer Coordinator The volunteer coordinator helps keep track of volunteers, and makes sure that they get “associated” with the team they wish to help. This position is currently vacant.

Safety Officer The safety officer makes sure that we comply with the AYSO Kid Zone requirements and administrates the AYSO supplemental insurance program.

Outpost Editor In addition to the obvious, the outpost editor coordinates communications from the board to the region members via the Outpost.

VIP Coordinator This position is similar to the division coordinator, and is responsible for overseeing the VIP program.
