The Dolphins capped their fourth perfect preseason in team history with a win over Green Bay. Miami scored on the initial posession of the game when Karim AbdulJabar ended a 12 play, 55 yard drive with a one yard TD run on third and goal. The drive started on the Dolphins 45 after rookie John Avery returned the opening kickoff for 41 yards. Dan Marino completed all of his three passes for a total of 27 yards, and Jabar rushed for 23 yards on the drive. Jonathan Brown picked up a John Avery fumble at the Dolphins 11 with 6:40 left in the game. The Packers spoiled the Dolphins shutout hopes when Matt Hasselback connected with Ronnie Anderson for a 31-yard TD strike with 4:40 left to play. The Dolphins outgained the Pack, 259-232. Miami rushed for 154 yards as a team, led by Jabar who finished the night with 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 16 carries. Dolphins WR Oronde Gadsden caught a game high 4 passes for 67 yards. The Dolphins held the Packers to a 14% conversion rate on third downs (2 of 14). Miami also limited Green Bay to 11 total first downs, and only one on the ground. Jason Taylor and Terrel Buckley each came up with int's for the Dolphins. The Dolphins controlled the clock for the majority of the game. Shane Burton also had 1.5 sacks.
