Quarterback Damon Huard who Dolphins fans know by now completed a 30 yard touchdown pass to Oronde Gadsden with less than one and a half left. The duo connected later on the two point conversion to finish the drive, to put the Dolphins over the Bucs by one.
Olindo Mare surprised the huge Dolphin crowd by starting the game off with an onside kick, Surtain recovered the kick. On the first attempt the Dolphins were offsides. Mare kicked it again and Brian Walker recovered it at about the 40. Then the 'fins drove down field, but had to settle for a three pointer by Mare. Mare completed all of the five passes he attempted. Michael Husted connected on a 27-yard field goal for the Bucs. Lynch got an int. and returned it to the Dolphins 27. Mare came through again with another field goal.
The Bucs tied the game with a 51-yard field goal by Peter Elezovic with about 2:00 left in the third. After the Bucs forced the Dolphins into a three an dout, they took over at their own five. Milanovich connected on both of his passing attempts, totaling 34 yards.
The Dolphins out gained the Bucs, 336-239. Miami held the ball for the majority of the game. The Dolphins limited the Bucs to just 73 net passing yards.
