STEELERS HUMILIATED
MIAMI DELIVERS 21-0 WHOOPING

I have been watching the Steelers since 1968, and I am hard pressed to find a more inept display of offense than what I watched today. If the loss of John Jackson, and Yancey Thigpen is this glaring a weakness, this team is in deep trouble.

I cannot find one good thing to say about the effort our Offense displayed today. Kordell was brutal. It was disgusting to watch the offensive line trying to pass protect, or run block.

Although Kordell missed the mark more often than not, when he did hit the target, the passes were dropped. The wide receivers could not get open. Did Breuner suit up today? I didn't here his name called at all.

Brendan Stai had crucial holding penalties, and Will Woolford let his man slip by way too often. I don't care if the so called experts give all the credit to the Dolphin's defense. This was an embarrassing total breakdown by the Steelers offensive unit.

Luck obviously played a part in the first two victories. Luck can only last so long. It ran out today, and starting next week, talent better start taking over. Ray Sherman must learn quick how to utilize the extraordinary talent that this offense can posess. If not, Seattle will eat us alive.

If there is any good to take out of this game, it was the punting of Josh Miller. He is turning out to be the best punter in the N.F.L. Hopefully, the offensive line will start to protect him better as well. I thought he was going to get killed today.

I would love to say that the Defense kept us in the game, and that they played great. That was not the case.

If Washington makes the interception at the end of the first half, it could have been a different ball game. Instead, it slips through his hands, and becomes a Miami touchdown. These are the kind of plays the Cornerbacks must make. Even if the interception is not made, the ball must be knocked down. This could have been a momentum builder. Instead, it took the wind out of our sails, and brought the rain.

Another bad sign for the Defense was the way the Dolphins opened holes for Jabbar to run through. It seemed he could pick up yards at will. Missed tackles could be handed out to the whole team. Even though the Defense only allowed 14 points, it was still a terrible exhibition from one of the premier run stopping teams in the league.

I realize that it is only the third game of the season, and 2-1 is very respectable, but this team needs a major offensive shake up. Hopefully, it's only a matter of getting Tim Lester back. More likely, it's a matter of Sherman getting the respect of his players. Kordell threw for a measley 82 yards, while the offense as a whole had an anemic 176 yards. Something major must be done to light a fire under our Offense.

Hopefully it gets lit soon.
