If your planning to go to Iceland there are a few things you should consider before going. First of all there is booking the trip. I decided to go to Iceland two days before my flight back to Australia and I wasn't really sure if I wanted to go. As it happened this gave me an advantage when I rang up Iceland Air. When I rang up they first told me that the fare would be 1800 Guilders. This was far more than I had expected it to cost and said that I couldn't afford that. The lady on the phone then asked me to hold while she tried searching for something cheaper. She came back with a two week advance purchase fare for 1360G, however I didn't want to wait that long. Another hold, 1310G, I thought about this but, fortunately, decided it was still more than I wanted to spend. Another hold, there was a seat available for the next flight, three days time, which was a standby fare, normally only available on the day of the flight, for 910G, she thought she could reserve it for me. Excellent!
When purchasing the ticket you need to let them know you have a bicycle, they will inform you that you must have the bike boxed, preferably the KLM bike boxes, these cost 30G. Not true, when I checked in other people simply had theirs in bubble wrap.
Finally buy your camera film before you come to Iceland, film is very expensive here. For a list of prices have a look at my Iceland price guide.
