KFAR-YONA vs YAKUM FC
Safe from any real struggle in the bottom and with no chance at the top, did YFC lose interest in the league? Judging from Friday's loss to Kfar-Yona, this could very well be true…
The R&B started the first half in a sleepy mode and it was not until after 15 minutes that they began to demonstrate a free style, fast, and technical football that was a delight to their fans. However, a good performance of the opponent's goalie, and the almost usual incompetence in front of the goal kept the score zeroed until 2 minutes from half time, when a penalty was given to FC due to a handball in the area. Ilan A had no trouble scoring FC's first 1-0.
As the 2nd half started, it was Kfar-Yona who were more eager and determined. It took them only five minutes to level the score, after a free kick from the right was swung into the box; YFC had struggled with these crosses throughout the season, and this time was no different: the ball was headed home by Kfar-Yona - 1-1. The equalizer literally broke the R&B. Suddenly, for no particular reason, nothing worked anymore. A combination of bad luck and bad football drove FC down. A random kick from 30 meters hit Uzi G's back and was re-directed to be Kfar-Yona's 2nd goal -2-1. The R&B drove forward, neglecting the defense, and paid the price: a fast break by Kfar-Yona ended in a third ball in FC's net: 3-1. The R&B could only narrow the gap with Ilan A's second goal - a beautiful shot from 25 m' - to make it 3-2 in the final.
The R&B long faces said it all in the end. We had high expectations from ourselves for this season, and we blew it. It seems like we should start think ahead toward the next season. FC's last chance for a title in this season will be the league's cup…
