Kilauea Iki is a crater found in Hawaii Volcanos National Park, and was last active back in the '50s. There's a four-mile trail that leads down into and across the crater, and a few of us took said trail. From left to right, that's Sara, Andrew, and Stuart. I'm behind the camera, of course.

Although you can't see them, there are steam vents off to both sides, showing that Kilauea Iki is still potentially dangerous. However, geologists say that the lava level is far below the surface and is getting lower each year. Thus, after producing the highest lava fountain seen from Kilauea it looks like this crater is going back to sleep.
