POWA Holiday Tag Team Tournament - Round 1, Match 2

The Flying Flowers vs. Stacey and Susie

The locker room was incredibly quiet, with neither of the two women much interested in conversing with the other, the tension obvious. They had been thrown together by the POWA brain-trust without their consent, but as each prepared individually, they would soon be wrestling together as a tag team, like it or not. Each had something to prove in this match, but each wanted to prove it alone.

Stacey had been out of action for a couple of months, her last match was against The Outlaw in which her leg was broken, and it was a painful experience in more way than one. Though she had rehabilitated her leg and was physically ready to compete as a professional wrestler, the problem for Stacey wasn't physical, it was psychological. The match against The Outlaw had wounded Stacey far worse than the pain of her broken leg. As the match went on and The Outlaw had her way with Stacey on that night, she grew scared. For the first time in her career as a professional wrestler, she had been scared. Scared that the youngster would physically hurt her, which she did, and scared that she would be made a fool of, which she was not. But the emotional scar had not yet healed and so Stacey crawled into a shell and was reluctant to come out. She wanted to get over the pain and horrible memory of that night, but so far, had not been able to.

Susie on the other hand was anxious to prove herself to the management of the POWA, the wrestlers of the POWA and most of all, the fans of the POWA. She knew it would be an uphill battle, especially considering the fact that she was a 52 year old woman, but she had worked herself into great shape and was ready for whatever the POWA threw at her. She had expected however that she would only have to worry about herself, and not someone else too. Being teamed with Stacey was a shock to her, but one that she accepted freely.

Susie was a very sweet, very outgoing woman. She was anxious to make new friends and happy to train with other women. In fact she was hoping to make lots of new friends amongst the other wrestlers. Stacy on the other hand was much more aloof, much more of a loner, and did not make friends easily. In fact, since her friend and former tag team partner Heather had moved across the country over a year before, Stacey had not made one new friend amongst the POWA women.

Once Susie found out that she and Stacey would be wrestling together, Susie got her new partner's telephone number and gave her a call. Stacey was not home however, and so she left her a friendly message. A few days went by however and Stacey did not return her call, so Susie tried again and left another message. Again there was no reply, which annoyed Susie a bit, but she was persistent and tried once more. When Stacey did not cal back the third time, Susie know it was intentional.

There first face to face meeting was in the locker room, just a few minutes ago. Susie introduced herself to Stacey, who acknowledged her with a nod of her head. That was the only exchange between the two. So as each sat in their end of the dressing room, the each thought of their own concerns.

Stacey's mind raced as she thought about the introduction to the thousands of screaming fans, dreading it. She thought that if she could just get into the ring and get the match underway, that maybe she would snap out of it. Maybe her fears would relinquish. But as the minutes ticked away, she grew more and more nervous.

Susie had her own concerns, but they were not so much about herself and her own preparations, she was more worried about how well she and Stacey would work as a team. She had never seen Stacey wrestle, but had heard that she was "okay". But Susie had hoped that the two of them could learn a bit more about each other in order to help improve their chances. Now that they did not, she was worried. Especially considering their opponents.

The Flying Flowers were a new tag team in the POWA, having wrestled only one other time. But that first match was an impressive one. It was a non-title match against the current Tag Team titleholders, the Black Angels, and Lily and Iris showed everyone that they were a team to be reckoned with. The two Japanese girls, identical twins, spoke no English. They had been sent to America by their agent to hone their wrestling skills and learn to make them more marketable. But judging by the way they handled Helen and Fire in their first match, their wrestling skills needed little honing.

Lily and Iris were each 22 years old and loaded with energy. Their style of wrestling was fast and furious, so once they got going in the ring, watch out, as the Black Angels found out! But though they spoke no English, they were very much aware of their situation. They had beaten the champs in their first match, and so they expected a shot at the title as a result. But instead, they were now being forced to wrestle in this tournament, with the winner getting a shot at the title, a shot they felt they had already earned.

So even thoroughly the two youngsters were new to the POWA, they already were angry at being cheated. But rather than dwell on the unfairness of it all, they agreed to prove to everyone that they were the best. The two young women worked very hard to prepare for this tournament, and as the match was about to begin, they were ready.

Stacey and Susie were called first, standing by the door and waiting. Stacey fidgeted nervously, beads of sweat appearing all over her face and body. Susie also bounced nervously, though much more enthusiastically than her tense partner did. Finally they heard the announcement as the doors flung open….

"Our second tag team match tonight feature the following principles…..

One of the women is making her debut in the POWA tonight, and the other is returning after a broken leg…. Her they are… weighing a combined 297 pounds…. STACEY AND SUSIE!!!"

Susie burst down the aisle, her nervous energy taking over as she waved to the crowd, enjoying the muffled cheers. Stacey meanwhile walked slowly into the arena as her partner raced forward before realizing that she had left Stacey behind. Stacey was much less energetic, and the crowd's greeting to the two quickly diminished as Susie waited for Stacey to catch up before they entered the ring together.

Susie bopped around the ring nervously as she waved and waited for her opponents to be introduced while Stacey walked right to the corner and stood stoically. It was obvious that the two were not in synch, from the difference in their demeanors to the difference even in their attire. Stacey wore a white, two piece outfit, though very conservatively cut. Susie on the other hand wore a purple bikini, cut quite a bit more daring than Stacey's, especially for a woman in her 50's.

The announcer than began again, introducing their opponents…..

"And their opponents tonight…..

weighing a combined 260 pounds…. the POWA's hottest new Tag Team… direct from Japan….. here are Iris and Lily Lee…. The FLYING FLOWERS!!!"

The doors flew open and two pretty, bouncing young women charged down the aisle, slapping hands, doing cartwheels and otherwise exciting the crowd with their level of energy. The identical twins would have been impossible to tell apart… aside from the difference in color of their outfits. Lily Lee wore a green bikini, her sister wearing a matching blue one. Each was barefoot, with their finger and toenails painted to match the color of their bikinis. They continued toward the ring, the crowd erupting at the level of energy the two pretty sisters were displaying.

Susie was shocked at the ebullient reaction the crowd gave the two youngsters, especially considering the luke-warm greeting she and Stacey had just received. Susie walked slowly back into her corner and stood alongside Stacey as Iris and Lily hopped over the top rope and continued their energetic display inside of the ring. Each ran to all four sides, jumping up onto the ropes to further incite the cheering throng.

Finally the four wrestlers settled back into the their corners, Lily climbing beneath the ropes as Stacey did the same. Susie watched, having never discussed with Stacey the strategy of the match. But it was obvious that she the one to start things off for their team, and so she did so readily. Finally the bell rang and Susie took a deep breath, her second career as a professional wrestler finally starting, after more than 30 years.

But Susie's deep breath cost her as Iris had jumped the bell by a second or two and as Susie opened her eyes, she was greeted with a flying dropkick, which knocked her back into the corner. The veteran blonde sunk back against the turnbuckle as Iris quickly got to her feet and grabbed a handful of Susie's hair, violently pulling her out of the corner.

Susie had been surprised and Iris was anxious to take further advantage of that, clutching tightly onto Susie's dry, bleached hair as she dragged her quickly across the ring and toward the opposite corner. As they approached, Lily perched herself on the top rope, waiting to pounce as Iris pulled the top of Susie's head forward, driving it into the turnbuckle.

Susie's head rammed into the padded corner, her neck sinking into her body before she bounced out of the corner and stumbled back a few steps. But as she did, Lily jumped off of the top rope, slapping her sister's hand as she descended. She spread her legs so that they surrounded Susie's head, wrapping her thighs around both sides of it as she landed on Susie's shoulders. The momentum knocked Susie back and off of her feet as she fell toward the mat, her head squashed between Lily's thighs.

Susie landed flat on her back as Lily landed hard on top of her chest, flattening Susie to the mat painfully. Susie's legs lifted into the air as Lily squirmed, grinding her butt into Susie's throat, pinning it tightly to the canvas. The crowd went crazy at the fast paced, acrobatic display, as Lily pumped her fist into the air while Susie began to kick her legs and slap her arms in protest. But she was pinned tightly as Lily ground down further onto her throat.

Stacey looked on, larger beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she watched her partner being overcome. Finally Lily rolled over and got the feet, pushing herself off of Susie before racing to the corner and slapping hands with Iris, who had also climbed onto the top rope. Susie was still flat on her back, though slowly trying to get up as Iris became airborne, pulling her knee out in front of her as she descended before driving into the pit of Susie's belly.

The loud groan which emanated from Susie seemed to echo over the cheers of the crowd as her legs darted up into the air, her head also lifting off of the mat as her mouth opened wide. Iris ground her knee deeper into Susie's dimpled abdomen as the senior wrestler moaned in pain. Iris thrust her arm into the air in celebration, just as her sister had done earlier.

Susie turned her head, and though quite by accident, ended up facing Stacey. Though Susie didn't even notice her partner, an incredible feeling of guilt came over Stacey as she watched Susie get pummeled. Stacey had begun to step between the ropes, but as Iris got to her feet pulling Susie up by the arm with her, Stacey backed off. Susie looked defeated already as Iris whipped her across the ring and into the side ropes. As Susie bounced off of the ropes and returned, she was greeted with a flying clothesline to the top of her chest, knocking her back to the canvas.

Again Susie's legs lifted into the air as Iris wasted no time, yanking her up by her wrist. Susie tried to resist, but was virtually dead weight as Iris then whipped her into the corner where Lily was standing. Susie's head snapped back and turned to the side as her body smacked into the corner. She saw Lily standing there, but a second later, Iris came charging forward and lifted her knee into the side of Susie's ribcage.

Susie grunted and fell forward as Iris slapped her sister's hand and climbed out of the ring while Lily climbed in. She grabbed Susie by the wrist once again and whipped her towards the side ropes, Susie running ragged by this point. As Susie's body dipped into the ropes, Lily raced toward her, leaping into the air for what promised to be a violent collision. With all of Susie's 150 pounds barreling forward, Lily's bare feet smacked into her breast plate, jarring Susie backward as feet shot up into the air as she tumbled onto her back.

Susie rolled onto her side, wrapping both arms over the raw, pink skin on her chest as her body pulsed up and down from her heavy breathing. Stacey called out to her, but Susie could not move. She couldn't even hear Stacey's pleas over the deafening cheers of the crowd. This was not how Susie had envisioned her first POWA match, but unfortunately it was her reality. Lily got to her feet and walked back toward her corner, slapping her sister's hand as Susie finally reached forward, trying to tag with Stacey. The two stretched, but could not touch, Lily and Iris content to watch.

Finally Stacey climbed beneath the ropes and ran toward Susie to tag, prompting Iris to jump into action. Just as Stacey leaned down and slapped Susie's hand, Iris raced up behind her and kicked her in the butt, sending Stacey stumbling forward. Iris chuckled as Stacey bumbled to within inches of the corner where Lily stood before regaining her footing. Stacey turned, but as she did, Lily was able to grab both of her elbows from behind, holding her arms behind her back as Iris charged forward, leaping into the air and landing a dropkick into Stacey's abdomen.

Stacey bent in half, collapsing into the corner as Iris fell softly to the side before getting to her feet and slapping her sister's hand. Susie had finally been able to crawl back onto the ring apron across the ring as Stacey now floundered in the corner, dropping back into a seated position against the ropes, her thighs resting on the mat as her back rested against the corner.

Lily catapulted over the top rope and into the ring, quickly storming in front of the downed Stacey. She reached down, grabbing hold of Stacey's right ankle, the same leg which had been broken in her last match. Stacey's face turned pale white in an instant as she began to panic. She started to stammer and then began to beg Lily…. "No…. no….no" as Lily pulled her to the middle of the ring by her leg.

Lily then positioned her feet on either side of Stacey before locking both hands securely onto her ankle, which was now pulled up into the air. As Stacey looked up, you could see the terror in her eyes as her shapely leg was held hostage by the young Japanese girl. Lily then pushed down on Stacey's leg, wrapping her own leg onto the side of Stacey's knee, trapping her leg in a Step Over Toe Hold.

Stacey began to slap the mat, her voice trembling as tears rolled down her cheeks. She was overcome with anxiety as her leg was pushed closer toward her body, the pain starting to build, as well as her horror. Stacey began to flashback to when her leg was broken, and her whole body turned cold and pale. The crowd screamed their approval, but finally Stacey could take no more. The pain was bearable, but the fear was not.

She began to scream out her submission, but in such a way that Lily got scared, fearing something was wrong. Stacey again screamed her submission, this time a frightened, blood curdling scream. The bell rang, the crowd began to grow silent and Lily immediately released the hold as Stacey rolled onto her side, pulling her long, shapely leg in toward her body. Lily was not sure what to do, and so walked toward the corner where her sister stood, looking back over her shoulder to see Stacey's condition.

She knew that the hold was not even intense enough to do any damage, never mind injure Stacey, so she couldn't figure out what was wrong. Even Susie looked on in dismay, having taken a terrific beating in a short period of time, but still expecting to go on. A few POWA attendants came into the ring to check on Stacey, but she pushed them away. Finally she got to her feet, limping slightly, but not enough to cause anyone any concern. Susie walked over to see if she was okay, but the aloof Stacey shooed her away as well.

As Stacey began to climb through the ropes, Lily and Iris began to celebrate, slapping each other's hands. But Stacey had even taken much of the fun out of their celebration based upon the way the match ended. Eventually the crowd realized that Stacey had pretty much given up, so as she walked back towards the locker room, alone, they began to boo.

Stacey didn't break stride and didn't look up, her head bowed in front of her as she ascended toward the locker room. The boos grew louder and more intense with each passing second until finally Stacey disappeared into the bowels of the arena, the crowd angry and upset that she had given up without a fight. She began to sob as she stood in the open area of the locker rooms, wondering if her wrestling career had just ended.

Susie was next, exiting the ring and walking alone up the aisle. But the crowd appreciated her effort, though she did not have the opportunity to show much. She received a friendly ovation as she slowly ambled up the aisle, waving half-heartedly and dejectedly back to the fans.

Finally Iris and Lily were left alone in the ring, and the crowd began to cheer… slowly at first, but building louder and louder. Lily and Iris began to smile as the cheers grew into roars, the fans getting to their feet to applaud the energetic effort of the dynamic duo.

Lily and Iris waved back at them, thanking them for the cheers, but still confused about what had just happened. But they soon forgot it, realizing that there was one more match to go later on that night, and the crowd was sure to be behind them.
