2/25/2004: Ok so now I have decided to make a blog just in case anyone is interested. Currently for work I am in Albany, NY working on the eMedNY project which is adding web capability to the New York state's Medicaid division. As to the volleyball up here, Jen Sangiacomo, Deb Singer, and Tim Stewart from the Capitol District Grass Doubles group were very helpful in getting me started up here. I am now playing in a league over at Shaker High run by Mel. I played with Pete Peer, Al, Ann, and John in a 4's league there this past season. We played well at the end of the season. I also was invited by the Schenectady YMCA USAV team to their practices by Jim Bishop. Lots of fun even if they use the Molton Pro Touch ball, I like the Tachikara ball so much better. Last night they were practicing some of their teams for an upcoming tournament so I had to play doubles. I had a blast, I like doubles so much more than sixes.
2/29/04: Well what nice weather we had for a leap day. I got to go down to the mall courts this past weekend and there were lots of people there. A few doubles courts were going and I got to play some on the Men's court. Had an ok starting game with Barry where I shook off the indoors rust, but we lost to Dang and Randy, who both played very well. I teamed up with Steve for my second match against Dang and Randy and started to serve well from the wind and catching some of the lines just enough to make them bounce. Steve put up a great block and we both played good enough defense to win the game. We won a couple more games before I had to leave. The last one was very fun against JC? and Lucas? who are both very good players. We squeaked out a win against them and it was a very fun match. The temps were up there for most of the time I was there although the clouds rolled in around 4 when I was leaving.
