Behind Lincoln Memorial: Called the Mall courts, 10+ courts, level varies, but more high
level players New in 2008, these courts have been dug out and new beach sand has been
put in many of the courts. These courts are much better then they have ever been! They
are collecting to help pay for this and other improvements to the courts. If you want to

Annapolis: Anne Arundel County Dept of Rec. and Parks will be installing two or
three new outdoor, sand, Volleyball courts near Annapolis in Crownsville, Spring 2001
The location will be a small park on Generals Highway across the street from the Renaissance
Festival. Jack Keene 410-222-7300, Facilities Planner for the Dept of Rec. & Parks says that
they would very much like to see the courts heavily used this summer.
There is a possibility that some outdoor courts may be installed at the Quiet Waters Park.
There is REALLY nice outdoor sand court at the Surfside 7 restaurant and Bar just over the
Route 2 bridge in Edgewater. There is a professional quality competition net there, lights for
night play, a deck to watch the game from, beer and good food, and you can even get a
Volleyball at the bar inside. The manager is Brandon 410-956-8075 call him to find out the
Open nights, there is a league here on Monday nights from 6pm to 10PM, from mid May
to August.
Corridor Park: Off of Crownsville Road, across the street from the Renaissance Festival
entrance.  It is a nice facility, courts are level with deep sand.  Courts will be lighted if enough
interest is shown.  There are three nets so there are varying levels.  There are rest rooms and
a play area adjacent to the courts, also some big shade trees.  Pick up play on Tuesday,
Thursday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday. Directions to Courts, from
Annapolis: Take old 450 out past Home Depot. Go about a mile past Home Depot
without turning. Go under the Route 97 overpass, and turn right at the next light onto
Crownsville Road. Go about 1 mile. See the Renaissance Festival on the right, and the
Corridor Park entrance on the left. Courts are straight ahead of you once in the park. 
You cannot miss them on your right!  No Alcohol allowed here!

Bates Middle School: Those interested in pick up Volleyball at Bates Middle School in
Annapolis should contact Dave Maertens at David.Maertens@feddata.com  
Let him know which days would be best for you.  Play will be in a grassy area behind the
school starting at 6PM
Surfside Restaurant: Please join us this Thursday May 3rd at 5:30 - 8:30 PM at the Surfside
Restaurant for pick up Volleyball. Pick Up play will continue each Thursday until the 10 teams
are formed and league play begins. Should be a beautiful evening for Volleyball.  Directions:
From Annapolis, take Route 2/Solomons Island Road South. Immediately after crossing the
South River bridge, get in the left hand lane, and take the first left through the median strip.
You will come to an immediate stop. Turn left 1 block to the water and the Restaurant.

Bethesda: Near the Marriott that is at
6711 Democracy Boulevard there is a sand
court.  It is behind the parking garage that is diagonally to the left when facing
away from the front of the Marriott.  I am not sure the condition of the court
since it has been over 10 years since I have been there.  I am not sure if anyone uses the
court or if it regulation. It might be more viewable if you make a left hand turn
onto Fernwood Road from Democracy Blvd coming from I-270.  I think
it is next to the Democracy Plaza II building.

Bethesda, Cabin John Park: Sand court here, there used to be a group that played on Tuesdays

Columbia, Centennial Park: Columbia (off of route 29/108) : Tuesday and Wednesday, mostly doubles,
some sixes. Wednesday and Thursday - Doubles, Men's - 1 Open/AA net, 2 AA/BBB nets,
Coed 1 AA/A/BBB net  Wednesday has best showing for people, starts at 5 till 8:30(dusk)

Alexandria - Founders Park.: Sand court.  Intersection of N. Union and Princess St.
Unknown what nights or level of play.  When I was there last it was a fun group.

Alexandria - Oronoco Bay Park: Pickup games on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
People set up nets to play.  Take the George Washington Parkway from DC to Madison
ST, turn left and follow that to the parking lot at the end.  If all the parking here is taken
you can park on the streets around the area, but there is a two hour limit on Fairfax ST
on Saturdays.  Level varies and type of play varies between 2's, 3's, and 4's.

Alexandria - Patrick Henry School Taney St.: Tuesday and Thursday, people set up nets,
higher level of play, amount of nets can be limited because of boys baseball practice.  This group
may be switching to another field for 2001, I will put down more info when I get it.

Alexandria - Tide Lock Park.: Sand court.  Intersection of Montgomery St and Rivergate Pl
Unknown what nights or level of play.

Arlington - Quincy Park: Located between 10th St. and Washington Blvd and N Quincy St
about 2 - 3 blocks from the Virginia Square Metro. Unknown which night people are out
there. No lights
.

Berryville: Berryville Sport & Health (540) 955-9113, Pickup games every Wednesday evening
$2 per player. Must sign liability release, 1/2 mile west on business Route 7

Burke Lake Park: 7315 Ox Road (Route 123) 4 sand courts, level varies, not sure what
nights people are out there.  There is a cost per car for non-Fairfax County residents

Crystal City, Crystal Drive Park: 3 sand courts, level varies, the courts are lighted.
The courts are at the very end of Crystal Drive going East past the intersection of
Crystal Drive and 23rd Street. Near 2400 Crystal Dr. and south of '5 Crystal Park Bldg

Dulles Sand Volleyball: 21593 Jesse Court, Dulles, VA 20166, 703-404-8800, 3 white sand 
volleyball courts with newly installed lighting, Courts are in excellent condition, $5 / person times 
are Fri. 5:30 - 11pm, Sat. 8am - 12, Sun 8am - 12, level is high, but there is one court reserved for

Fairfax City: E Calvin Van Dyke Park, on Old Lee Highway between Layton Hall Dr and Old Post Road
Two sand courts on a nice set of posts.  No idea if there are lines there so you better bring your own.
Next to Fairfax City Police Station and St. Leos Church.

Mason District: Wednesday & Thursday evenings

Nottoway Park, Vienna: various levels of play either on a sand court or on nets that people set up on the grass.
The grass courts are a higher level of play.  Not sure what nights people are out there.

Quincy Park, Arlington: various levels of play during the weeknights.  Not sure what nights people are out there.
