First report

Hello there!
It's KP from Sydney.  Just wanted to let you know that I'm here and everything's getting VERY EXCITING!!
I'm staying right on Bondi Beach so, for the past 10 days, I've watched the finishing touches be added to the
venue and watched all the athletes arrive and practice.  Just today, it became a zoo around here with all the media
and such.  I ran right into Bill Walton on the beach today -- pretty funny.  On Monday, I was taking a walk down
the beach and ran smack into the US Women practicing.  Apparantly, they only get 1 hour/day in the stadium, so
they just put up a net and were in business.  The crowd along the beach was very pleased.  I took lots of pics and
even some digital video.  I'll send it along to you from a different pc. So, just an update from down unda.  Everything
here is incredible and we can't wait for the Games to begin.  We have Opening Ceremonies tix, and lots of beach
and indoor vball.  Gymnastics finals, lots of athletics, some swimming, soccer, handball, boxing, judo, rowing, baseball,
and sailing

Second Report

Hi Mike,
Yesterday was a very busy day on Bondi.  Katie Couric from the Today show was filming on the beach all day,
every bvball team was out practicing, and the US teams, once again, were practicing out in the open for a few hours.
Jenny Johnson Jordan and her Dad, Raefer Johnson (1960 Rome decathlete champion & torch bearer in LA) were
front and center.  During the afternoon, the beach started to fill up with surf life saving teams, children, and good,
Aussie fans to bring the torch into to Bondi.  From there, it would go by land into town where the likes of Pat Rafter
and Olivia Newton-John had their go and the city would erupt in fireworks from the Harbour Bridge - where the symbolic
rings would be lit.  Here are some pix of our #2 women's team (McPeak & May) practicing & the torch arriving on
Bondi.  I only have regular snaps of the #1 team, Johnson Jordan & Davis and the men).  Last night on Bondi, all the
bvball players were out and about - it's getting pretty exciting.
Tonight, we go off to the Olympic Park for the Opening Ceremonies, then bright and early on Saturday morning, we
head down to the beach for the first bvball matches.  More later...

Third Report

Hi there Mike!
It's been a packed schedule for us die hard American fans here in Sydney!  Hardly a second to sit down and
check email - not to mention downloading and renaming all the digital pix and video.
Since I last checked in, I've been out to Olympic park for the Opening Ceremonies (probably the greatest
show I've ever witnessed!), Beach Volleyball 5 times, Swimming (Tom Dolan's Gold!), Men's Vball (vs. Russia),
Boxing (sat behind Evander Holyfield! and watched every former soviet country duke it out + cheered 2
Americans on to victory), Gymnastics (women's all around finals - Romanian sweep), and Athletics (100m
finals - USA gold sweep!!).  Today's it's men's Beach Volleyball semis and then to both Women's Soccer
semifinal matches.  Apparently, we were all on the NBC coverage of the McPeak/May quarterfinal match
on Saturday.  We're getting good at finding the good seats in Bondi.  Even the DJs know who we are now.
We doned Brazilian shirts/hats/flags the other day - sat in the front row and screamed/danced for the Loyola
match(who ended up losing 17-16).  The DJ came over to me during the break and said, "you don't look very
Brazilian to me."  Him, remembering how heatedly I supported the Americans in the previous match.  Well, if
the Brazilians are willing to outfit us in their colors (and they're not playing the US)... hey, it's the Olympics!
This Olympics has been magical.  Australia has definitely put on its best for the world to see and enjoy.  The
atmosphere at every event and venue is pure energy.  Most things have been designed to encourage crowd
participation and no one has been disappointed.  This city has come alive.  We were out last night (this morning)
until 5am running around the city like it was the middle of the day.  There were so many people still out and about -
laughing, singing, cheering, wearing flags, speaking all sorts of languages, dressed in all the colors of the world.
Some bars/clubs have been erected for the Games - my favorite is Sussex Lane which is a large converted alley
in the middle of town with live music and sophisticated lighting, video, lasers, etc.  It appears to be the hottest ticket
in town once the venues clear out.
So, that's it from Sydney for now.  The magic continues... it's GREAT to be American... and it's great to be here!
Pix to follow....
