In Billy's first season with the Oaks, in a game against the Hollywood Stars, a runner spiked Billy in both legs. There was blood all over him as he was carried off the field (above). In the dressing room, they called for a doctor from the stands, gave him a shot of whiskey, and trainer Red Adams and Billy's teammates held him down while the doctor stiched up the wounds without the benefit af any anesthetic.
