Things About Me

As anyone who has ever met me is aware, I know a lot about baseball, the Atlanta Braves, and KU Jayhawks. I value my softball equipment and Braves stuff (shirts, balls, posters, etc.). I couldn't live without ESPNews for sports scores and top stories. The designated hitter, Astroturf, New York Yankees, and country music are things I oppose. The athletes I dislike are Kevin Brown and Mike Piazza. Too much cash and not enough talent. Along with many other people, some of the most interesting things I have seen are all of Mark McGwire's home runs in 1998. All 70. I would love for the Braves to win the 1999 World Series in four games over the Yankees, and for the Jayhawks to win the 1999 NCAA Tournament. Also, I want Andres Galarraga's tumor to be found benign so that he can play the entire '99 season. From my dad, I have learned about baseball. From my Grandma, to love KU basketball. And my Mom, a little about patience. Okay, so maybe I still need some work in that area. All right, a lot. The baseball player that has taught me the most important lesson is Curtis Pride who is now a Royal:(. He is a deaf outfielder who was determined enough to make it to the major leagues despite his handicap. The best things I do in school are math, spelling, and writing. In sports, playing first base and hitting. What bothers me most about basketball is the entire Jayhawks season and knowing that Senior Night was the last game that Ryan Robertson, TJ Pugh, Chris Martin, and Jelani Janisse will ever play at Allen Field House. Not that Martin and Janisse ever really got to play anyway. Andres Galarraga's cancer and knowing that he'll have to sit out the entire 1999 season is what bothers me most about baseball. I can't think of anything sports-related and unusual that has happened to me. However, I have won first place in a KATM math contest and am going to OM State for the second time. My family history is pretty boring. Both my mom and her brother were adopted and both of my Grandmas are divorced. If I only had one year to live, the places I would have to go are Turner Field to see a game, and Allen Field House to see a men's game. I would also have to meet my current favorite athletes (Greg Maddux, Andres Galarraga, Javy Lopez, and Ryan Robertson). My sports accomplishment that has made me the most happy is when I hit double to win the last game of my team's final game of the fall season with two outs against our ultimate rival, the Crushers. If there's any way that you haven't noticed, all except two of the things about me are in some way related to sports. I think that says more about me than any one of the questions does.
