Hey, I just got the e-mail about the fan encounter page and all that stuff...I met him last december, actually I met the whole team! I wrote my story up for you below...Last season when the Wings came to Boston to play the Bruin's my friend and I went to the Fleet Center really early to see if we even had the slightest chance of meeting any of the Wings. We got into the arena and realized that we couldn't get anywhere near the dressing room, so we headed for our seats. We decided to check out the locker room from the ice though...you know, where they walk out onto the ice from...well, we went over there and there was a security guard standing there, but she didn't say anything to us. We poked our heads in and walking right towards us was Chris Chelios! He came out and was talking to us and when I asked him to sign something for me he goes "Nope, I'm going to get Sergei for you hun!" ....Cause I had on my Sergei jersey and stuff. The game was only 2 days before Sergei's birthday, so I had a Happy Birthday sign with me...I know, that might sound kinda stupid now, but it really helped me out later! So all the Wings were coming out to say hi to us. Shanny came out and had a whole big conversation with us....I was in awe. I was so upset though, cause the only player that wasn't coming out was Sergei. He walked by in the locker room though and waved and I started to tear up...sad, I know....but I was just thankful that I didn't pass out! Then Scotty Bowman came out and says " Sergei knows that you're out here, but he can't meet you before the game..he has too much to do, but you can meet him after the game if you want to." I was freaking out...he goes "He has never had a fan come this early to see him, or ever cry for him before...they're all talking about how cute it is in there." I was so excited...at this point I couldn't deal with it anymore! I was sooo excited. Scotty told me where the players would be after the game, and that I could come down and meet Sergei! So now it was time for warm ups. They all came out and were skating around and doing different drills and stuff. Sergei and Chris Chelios were standing out at center ice and Chris pointed at me and then said something to Sergei. Sergei gave me a huge smile and waved to me and said thank you because I was holding up his Happy Birthday sign. The guy that was standing next to me turned to me and goes "you're the luckiest girl in the world!" I really couldn't believe that any of that had happened to me! So, we watched the game (which the Wings won....hehe) and after we headed down to where I was supposed to get to meet Sergei. When we got down there you could see the exit of the locker room and a whole group of people that were in a roped off area waiting for autographs. They all had passes to be there though. We noticed that there was a bathroom in the roped off section where the players were going to be...but in a different section than where all the people were. We asked to use the bathroom and they let us in with out any question. We decided to hide in the bathroom until the players came out. We waited in there for about 45 minutes until it started getting louder outside. I was almost giving up at that point...I didn't think I was going to get to meet him so I just walked out...but as I was walking out I walked right into him! LITERALLY! I just froze. He said excuse me and kept walking. He was standing there talking to two other people and I felt bad interupting him. I was looking around and I realized that we were the only "normal" people in there. Everyone else that was in the area that we were in was either a player, worked for the wings, or was a security guard! I didn't want to risk getting kicked out with out his autograph. So I walked up to him and asked him if he could autograph the sign that I made for him. He gladly did it and when he was done he read the sign, looked at me and smiled and said "Thank you so much, it was very nice to meet you!" I said your welcome, shook his hand, and it was over. I started walking away and I turned around one last time to look at him and he was looking back and smiling at me. I was the cutest thing ever! After we got out of the "special" area...I lost it completely! I just started crying my eyes out! I couldn't believe it...that was the best night of my entire life!
