DINYAR SAHIAR PASSES AWAY

Dinyar R Sahiar, life member of AICCF from Mumbai, passed away on 10th October 2005, five days short of his 66th birthday. He was diagnosed with Cancer of the stomach more than an year back and is survived by wife Roshan and daughter Kavina. Sahiar retired from Central Bank in 1999 after having been part of the bank's chess team for more than 30 years. He has played several OTB tournaments at Palani, Sangli and elsewhere apart from Inter-Bank competitions and was also a Parsi priest. The tall, well built and jovial Sahiar had lost much weight due to his illness, but remained cheerful till the end. Sahiar was not active in correspondence chess. However, he was a chess lover passionately fond of the game, and leaves behind a large collection of Chess books and Software.
