Homework #4
The website SOFWeb is a resource available to everyone that gives not only general information on how to access the internet, but also on information regarding research and useful tools for students. The link to Research on the Net presents information on where to start, what sources to use and if they are credible, Ask the Experts and plagiarism and citing. The website is organized well, which makes it easy for navigating no matter how computer savvy a person may be. It leaves the browser with an understanding of what the Net is, how it can be used and how easy it is to use.
I found the website interesting because it mixes a multitude of information that can be beneficial to the most computer literate individual or a novice. The information is pertinent to students as well as teachers, which is why it seemed interesting to me. I would use it in a classroom setting to introduce methods in which I would want my students to research. It sets guidelines and provides information necessary for accurate research or simply surfing the net. I would probably add more examples or a tutorial to explain ideas a little more in depth for those that would require more assistance. I learned about a number of links that would be beneficial to my own internet experience, including the Ask the Experts site.
