Brothers,
I send you greetings from the Alumni Affairs Committee!
Last night, we had our first conference call. It was clear from
our first "meeting" that this committee is full of enthusiastic
and creative brothers who are dedicated to setting a new standard
for committee activity.
After introducing ourselves, we reviewed the two
charges given to us by President Blair and the NEC. They are:
1) to examine and make recommendations regarding the services
that the fraternity currently offers its alumni; and
2) to find new ways to involve alumni in the fraternity.
Then, we each discussed our goals and ideas for
the fraternity's alumni program and how the Alumni Affairs Committee
can be involved. After each member shared his vision and ideas,
it was decided that we would brainstorm individually and critically
examine ideas relating to the charges for a month via email and
fax.
We are planning to reconvene by conference call
on Wednesday, September 30, where we will decide and prioritize
our ideas. Some developments will require change in fraternity
policy handled by Lyrecrest, some will be passed on to the National
Executive Committee for further discussion or approval, and some
may even need Assembly approval. You can expect to hear from this
committee regularly over the next two years as we plan and implement
improvements in this vital area of our fraternity.
If you have any suggestions relating to our charges
please contact any or, preferably, all members of the committee.
Our contact information is provided below. Also, look for the
Alumni page on sinfonia.org to be functional within a month or
so. Aaron Dutton has graciously agreed to complete this project
which Brian Martin created a few months ago. If you have any suggestions
for information to be included on the page, please send them to
me and I'll forward them on to Aaron.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns,
do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the committee at
your earliest convenience. I look forward to hearing from many
of you.
Most sincerely,
Mark Crewson (H-O '89 / AX '93) Chairman, Alumni
Affairs Committee
