What is TAE KWON DO? |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Literally translated, taekwondo means "the art of kicking and punching". It's a dynamic martial art based on ancient Korean movements and principles. But it is much more than that! It is the fastest-growing martial art and one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. As of the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia, taekwondo is also now an official Olympic sport! It's also a great way to stay in shape and have fun. So whether you're looking for an effective method of self-defense, the adrenaline rush of competition sparring or just a great workout, taekwondo is the answer! For a more complete look at the martial art and the sport of taekwondo, please check out some of the resources on our useful links page! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Our clean, bright dojang features 2000 square feet of workout space complete with a specially designed, impact-absorbing, Olympic training floor. We have protective equipment available for students, and students may order their own equipment at a very reasonable cost through us. Our specialty is children! We have lots of classes just for kids, where they can have fun and learn not just taekwondo, but discipline, self-confidence and respect for self and others. Our Academy competes in numerous local, provincial, regional and national tournaments every year. Students wishing to participate get the chance to travel with the team and experience the camarederie and friendly competition. And we always welcome new members! |
