Playing two of the most formidable clubs in the New England district over the weekend, the Bethlehem Steel soccer club returned home with three of a possible four points as a result of playing New Bedford to a one goal draw on Saturday and on Sunday emerging victorious over Providence by the score of 4 to 3.
In the Saturday game Bethlehem and Providence engaged in a torrid battle, ending with the score deadlocked at one goal each. Due to injuries on the Bethlehem squad, the management was forced to play Whitey McDonald at a fullback position. Bill Carnihan played his first league game of the season and was at his old position at center halfback.
New Bedford was first to score, notching their goal in the first half on a pretty shot from Stevens. The half ended with the home club leading 1 to 0. With twenty-five minutes more to play ONeill, who substituted for Robertson, equalized the count.

Before a crowd of more than five thousand fans Bethlehem Steel nosed out Providence in the Sunday tilt by the score of 4 to 3. Although Bethlehem was leading throughout the greater part of the game, the hard fight had the fans on edge at all times. The end of the first half found the Steelmen leading by the count of 3 to 2.
In the second half Providence was able only to register one goal and this was a gift as McDonald accidentally booted the ball into the net in clearing. Bethlehems first goals came in three minutes, Rollo tallying on a corner kick. A penalty kick gave Providence its first goal. Stark and McConnell scored Bethlehems other two goals in this half. McConnell scored for Bethlehem in the second half when Aimer gave him the ball in clearing.
