When the Bethlehem Steel soccer team opposes the New York F. C., in the Steel Workers' closing game of the season at New York Oval on Sunday afternoon, the outcome will determine second place position in the league standing.
The Gotham dribblers are running second in the standing with a one point margin and for Bethlehem to assume the same advantage the Steel Workers must win their closing contest. A draw would avail the locals nothing for with one point credited to each team the New Yorkers would still retain their one point lead.
Fall River has the title clinched but interest and rivalry is nevertheless rife in the fight for second place position. The Steel Workers are anxious to finish runner-up and with this in mind and inspired by t heir victory over Fall River at Fall River last Sunday afternoon are determined to count victory in their closing contest. The Steel Workers have been more successful against New York on the latter's grounds this season than any other league club. In four games played in New York, the Bethlehem annexed victory in three.
Archie Stark, a forward on the Gotham eleven, is leading the list of individual scorers with 24 goals. With the season practically at an end it is practically certain that the flashy New York front liner will retain this honor for his nearest rival is Tommy Fleming, of J & P Coats with a record of 17 goals. Following is the standing of the clubs and the individual scoring:
