C. advanced to the second round of the American Soccer League Cup competition and will meet Newark at the latter place in the next round on Sunday afternoon. Twenty-five hundred fans turned out to see the game which was played on the Phillies' grounds.
With the revised line-up sporting very few of the cup players, the team journeyed to Trenton on Sunday afternoon and defeated the Trenton F. C. in an exhibition game by the score of 5 to 4.
In the concluding minutes, following a free kick against Bethlehem, Manson punted toward goal and George Graham received the ball, and his drive at goal hit the lower section of the crossbar. The Phils claimed a goal and have protested the game.
The Phils rallied in great shape in the second half. Once they advanced and Turner slipped up on an opening. A corner kick was gained and two more in rapid order on successive plays had Bethlehem worried. However, they jammed their goal mouths and managed to prevent scoring.
