The second annual challenge cup competition under the auspices of the American Soccer League, the premium professional organization in the United States, for the H. Edgar Lewis trophy, which was won last season by the Boston soccer-football club, who defeated Fall River F. C. in the final by a score of 2-1, will be inaugurated Saturday and Sunday, April 17 and 17, when the first round will be contested.

The draw for the first round is as follows:

Saturday, April 17, at Philadelphia, Pa., -- Philadelphia vs. Bethlehem.

Sunday, April 18, at Brooklyn, N. Y., -- Brooklyn vs. Indiana Flooring Co., New York Giants F. C. and Newark F. C. being awarded byes.

Sunday, April 18, at Tiverton, R. I., -- Fall River vs. Boston.

New Bedford F. C. enters the second round through Shawsheen scratching. Byes have been awarded J & P Coats F. C. and Providence F. C.

The officials appointed to conduct these first round games are as follows: At Philadelphia, Geo. Young will handle the whistle; at Brooklyn, Mose Bloom will officiate, while at Tiverton, R. I., Fred Odell will be in charge. The kick-off time for these games has been set for 3 p.m.

A card furnished by the draw is of such an excellent character and the teams so well matched that to attempt to pick out any particular game as a star attraction would be a very difficult matter. For instance, victories of the Philadelphians over New Bedford, New York Giants, J & P Coats and Newark in recent league contests, stamped them as the enigma of the league and liable to upset any club, especially in a cup competition.

The remaining two games on the card, Brooklyn vs. Indiana Flooring co. and Fall River vs. Boston, bring together teams who put up strenuously fought battles in the earlier parts of the National Challenge Cup competition. Brooklyn and Boston vanquished these same opponents in that struggle, but in both cases replays were necessary to accomplish the results.

For the entertainment of Metropolitan fans, New York Giants will have the Newark team as guests at the Oval on Sunday, this being the second encounter of the season for these teams.

The first clash at Harrison on December 6th, resulted in a victory for the Gothamites. Since that time the Newark team has undergone considerable remodeling and a close game is predicted by the local followers of the sport.
