STEEL-HAKOAH SOCCER CONTEST IN STADIUM
Bethlehem and Vienna Champions to Clash in Lehigh Arena on April 21
RECORD CROWD EXPECTED

Taylor Stadium at Lehigh will be the scene of the international contest in which Bethlehem Steel F. C., will oppose the Hakoah Club, of Vienna, Austria, was the announcement made by the management of the local team and already plans are underway to make this the biggest soccer attraction ever played in this city. The game will probably be played on the afternoon of April 21 and the time of starting arranged to enable business people as well as the fans employed in the various industries to be present.

Expect Record Turn-Out

In securing Taylor Stadium for the game, the Bethlehem management is assured of adequate facilities, such as might have been lacking if the contest had been played on the home grounds of the National champions. Incidentally it is not to be the first time that a soccer game has been played in the stadium and past records disclose that the biggest attendances ever to witness a soccer contest in this city were recorded on the Lehigh field.

Bethlehem fans and those of surrounding cities and towns will be presented with the first opportunity of seeing the famous Hakoah organization in action in this country. The tourists are expected to arrive in New York on April 17 and will be idle for several days to shake off their sea-legs and get acclimated to American conditions.

Various receptions are planned as pre-game functions which will be held in New York and it is understood that the Jewish people of this vicinity are preparing a reception of welcome when the team invades Bethlehem.

The first Metropolitan appearance will be on May 1, when it is expected that close to fifth thousand soccer fans will turn out to see their game on the Polo grounds.

The tour of the Hakoah eleven this year is sponsored jointly by the Bethlehem Steel and New York Giant managements and mad possible only after assuring the biggest guarantee ever paid an international touring soccer club. The itinerary includes games in all of the big cities in the East as well as several in the middle west and more than likely two or three games in Canada.

The Bethlehem Booster Club will become active immediately and have called a special meeting to be held at the Masonic Temple on Wednesday evening to which all members and others interested are urged to attend. The meeting is called for the purpose of assisting in the plans.
