That championship honors in the American Soccer League are practically assured for the Bethlehem booters is apparent by the club standing at this late date. The Steelmen are topping the list with a margin of five games and nothing but a complete collapse can toss away the chances. Bethlehem has about eight more games to play to complete the schedule, and of these the majority are scheduled for the home field.
Boston Loses Second Place.
With the league gonfalon pretty well sewed up, the Steelmen will not concentrate on the cup competitions, the first game of which will be played at Newark next Sunday. Bethlehem can be expected to make a determined effort to defend its title as National champion.
In the weekend games the results ran pretty near form. One upset was accomplished when the New York Giants blasted the championship aspirations of Boston by defeating the Hubmen by the score of 1 to 0. As the result of that setback Bethlehem strengthened its lead by one full game. The standing of the teams follows:
