Facing the Brooklyn Wanderers at its best and with its host of former Hakoah players in the lineup, Bethlehem shared the honors in the American League game played on the Brooklyn field on Sunday afternoon when the final whistle brought to a close one of the bitterest soccer battles ever seen with the score one all. The game was witnessed by more than five thousand excited fans.

The Bethlehem forward line was slightly rearranged over that which appeared against Coats in the league game played in Bethlehem on Saturday. Stark did not start at all and in his position Johnny Granger made his return after a good many weeks of idleness due to injury. Forest, too, was out of the lineup with Rollo playing the inside left position.

Bethlehem had the best of the opening exchanges and worked the ball into Brooklyn’s territory in the first minute of play when MacGregor tested Fischer with a fast grounder. The ball bobbed about in the goalmouth until Goldie found an opening and crashed the leather past Fischer for the first goal after only six minutes play. THE Wanderers were badly stung at this early reverse and set up a strong attack, but Edwards brought off a great save from Neufeld.

Bethlehem with beautiful combination transferred the play, Rollo brining Fischer to his knees in saving his stringing drive. Carnihan stood out conspicuous with some grand defensive work under great pressure and smashed up attack after attack by the Brooklyn forwards. Two corners came the Wanderers’ way, but both were cleared. Back went the ball like lightening and Bethlehem obtained a flag kick when Wilson punted well down the field. Eisenhoffer secured possession and let fly a first-time shot, but Edwards again saved wonderfully.

Two more corners fell to Brooklyn, but nothing resulted. Neufeld and Conrad at times got going in their real stride on the right wing, and Neufeld put over a perfect center. Eisenhoffer pounced upon the ball and evened up the score with a great shot. Edwards partly saved but could not prevent the sphere entering the net. Thirteen minutes now remained before half time, and the Brooklynites played like demons for the lead, but at the interval nothing more had been scored, and the teams crossed over tied 1 to 1.

Bethlehem started off with a big rush upon resuming and soon obtained a corner, but Goldie kicked behind.

Neufeld now came into the picture with some dizzy work on the right wing and cleverly tricking Allan, had only Edwards to beat, but shot past the upright and missed a great chance to put his side in the lead.

In a fierce scrimmage in midfield Matt Shortt, making his first appearance this season for Brooklyn, was accidentally kicked in the right eye. The eyelid was slit open and he was carried off the field to Kings County Hospital, Kelly taking his place.

Johnny Nelson started a movement towards Edwards, and, giving Eisenhoffer a fine pass, the former Hakoahite crashed the ball against the crossbar with Edwards well beaten.

Brooklyn redoubled its efforts to gain the lead, and shot after shot was rained in upon Edwards who was in great form and could not be beaten.

In the closing minutes the Wanderers were attacking strongly, but the winning goal could not be obtained a rousing game ending in a tie, 1 to 1. Referee Creighton handled the game splendidly. The lineup:
