1918 Standard Small Arms Factory No1 MkIII* |
||||||||||||||
The Standard Small Arms Factory was started to build No1 MkIII* rifles for WWI. They never built complete rifles due to management and labor problems but produced receivers, parts, and furniture for the rifles. These parts were then assembled in either the Enfield Factory or Birmingham Small Arms Co. This gave rise to the "peddled" scheme rifles. The manufacturers marks for the receiver are located on the receiver next to the cocking lever of the bolt. Standard Small Arms rifles are marked SSA. The SSA and NRF receivers are among the hardest to find of the MkIII* rifles |
