Now in their 5th year, the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders are one of the newest squads in the National Football League, especially for an NFL franchise that is in its 38th year. The Broncos brought cheerleading back in 1993 after a 17-year absence and areproud of the work the squad does both on the field and in the commu- nity.The Broncos Cheer- leaders are chosen through audition held each spring. Hundreds of women compete for the opportunity to be a part of the team.Auditions focus mainly on dance ability. However appearance and personality are also contributing factors.

The cheerleaders are known for their distinctive Western uniforms, they wear long leather chaps and jackets in the fall months, ski-wear from Obermeyer for cold games and a more traditional cheerleading short leather skirt and vest for summer. The three uniform changes gives them flexibility with the ever-changing Colorado weather.

Each member of the Broncos Cheer leaders has an average of 14 years or more of dance experience. In addition, the team is comprised of athletes, students, mothers and businesswomen. For example on the latest team there were a mother of three, a law student, a CPA, a pilot and three women whit masters degrees.

The Denver broncos Cheerleaders are active in the Denver community donating their time for appearances on behalf of a variety of nonprofit organizations, in- cluding the Broncos Chari- ties Fund.
