Tereza Magdalena Delgado grew up in a rough part of the port city of Antofagasta where she learned to fight at an early age and gained a reputation as a tough gang leader. After repeated arrests Tereza was sent to juvenile prison where she fought in a boxing competition run by three sadistic guards. Tereza used boxing as an outlet for her aggression, as a way to stay fit and earn favors from the guards while intimidating other inmates.

When she was released on probation she was told to enroll in a supervised boxing program to keep herself out of trouble. She came under the wing of Francisco Mancilla who was building an all-girl team to fight professionally.

"I am always thrilled by blood and sweat and making the other girl cry with pain, but Francisco showed me how boxing can prepare me for my whole life by making me discipline myself and have confidence in my physical and mental abilities."

Mancilla sees a future world champion in his young "Dinamita".

"She is fearless, hot blooded and ferocious but she has learned to control her temper to become a skilled professional fighter."
