Manju Devi took up boxing over the objection of her parents who worried that participating in bruising sport would damage her prospects for marriage. Her early success in amateur competitions convinced them to let her continue in the sport and she won several national and Asian championships. Manju hopes to continue her success in WEBA against the best boxers around the world.
