Grudge Match 2 Results!
Rachel Martin Vs. Cyan Locklear
World War III has just broken out! Two woman from the B-League that have been bad mouthing each other over the last few weeks have finally come to blows. As soon as the bell rung starting the 1st round both women tore into each other. Both women pounded each other continuously never letting up. Going into the 2nd round Martin tried to start taking control, she scored numerous punches on Locklear which made Locklear very angry, as she responded back to Martin with a straight authorative jab to her right temple. By the end of the second round both women knew that they were in for the fight of their life. You could see Locklear grimacing as she returned to her corner. And as I looked over to Martin's corner, all she could do was adjust her mouthpiece continuously. Both girls continue to pound on each other throughout the 3rd round. And in the 4th Locklear was left wide-eyed by a powerful left to her rib cage and was followed by a barrage of fists to her face and body which dropped Locklear to the canvas. Locklear managed to get up before the count of 8 and Martin went right back at her. Locklear managed to hang on and survived the 4th round. In the 5th round it was all Martin as she dazzled Locklear, throwing combinations to the body and face. She hit Locklear so many times that by the end of the round, Locklear was standing in a daze and she zigzagged back to her corner. In the 6th Martin continued pounding on Locklear and she managed to cut Locklear's right eyebrow. They went back and forth for awhile then Martin clobbered Locklear with a vicious right hook to her mouth causing it to bleed. Martin continued the hard punching on Locklear causing the cut to start seeping with blood. Locklear's corner must have seen some flaw in Martin's defence, for in the 7th round Locklear came back with a vengeance. Locklear seemed to have free reign over Martin as she was able to continuously connect. By the end of the round it was Martin that was in a daze. And it seemed to take her an extra 20 seconds to find her way back to her corner, and I noticed there was blood seeping from Martin's mouth as well. In the 8th the playing field was leveled as both girls went back to beating each other. By the end of the 8th round these girls looked like zombies, their faces were bloodies their eyes were swollen and I don't think they would have gotten a date that night. It seemed to me that the steam left Martin as she was dragging herself to continue the fight. Locklear continued to pound on Martin. In the 10th round Martin should have quit. She seemed to have nothing left in her. Locklear would punch her and Martin would respond slowly. Locklear continued to throw punches to Martin's face and body and it seemed if Martin might actually start doing something as she slammed Locklear into the ropes with a rapid combination causing more blood to spew from Locklear's mouth. And that made Locklear angry! What happened next is something I've never seen before. Locklear was hitting Martin in the jaw and she continued to hit Martin in the jaw on several occasions which placed Martin on the canvas for a short 3 count. When Martin got back up Locklear went after the jaw again. Continuously hitting it causing Martin to retreat. Locklear caught up with Martin and threw a humungous right hook into Martin's jaw which produced a loud grinding noise resulting in a broken jaw and the bell sounded ending the 10th round. In the 11th, it was all Locklear, she continued beating on Martin putting her on the canvas for a 5 count and when Martin got back up, there was more blood coming from her damaged jaw. Locklear sensing that Martin was through, landed a lot of punches resulting in a knockout!
Jeanette DeCarlo Vs. Shanna Tyee
I don't know why these two girls hate each other, but I'm sure glad they do! Because with this hatred between these two, it sure made for a bloody, hard hitting fight! Because by the end of this fight, both of these women will be single for awhile. Tyee came out as if she wanted to end this fight in the first round. Throwing hooks, jabs, bobbing and weaving and doing other things that distracted DeCarlo so that she could pound on her. It must have worked for, DeCarlo was confused and all she could do was pound her gloves together as she went back to her corner at the end of round 1. In the second round DeCarlo was aware of Tyee's tactics, resulting in a better composure for DeCarlo, as she managed to return punches to Tyee. Realizing that DeCarlo was no longer confused, Tyee dropped her bobbing and weaving tactics and went straight at DeCarlo which was a mistake. Both girls went toe to toe and at the end of the round, Tyee was standing in a daze as she weaved back to her corner. Both girls went at each other continuously for the next 2 rounds, and it was in the 4th that Tyee placed DeCarlo on the canvas, but all that did was anger DeCarlo as she came back on Tyee and bloodied her mouth and chin. In the 5th, DeCarlo came out on the short end as Tyee went to work, resulting in some blood coming from her left eye and her nose bloodied. Again, both girls went at each other continuously hitting each other hard and fast all the way through the 8th round. In the 9th round it looked as if Tyee might finally win this fight. She placed DeCarlo on the canvas for a 9 1/2 count. Tyee continued to pound on DeCarlo but could never put her back down. DeCarlo just stood there at the end of the round before slowly going back to her corner. When the bell sounded for the 10th round, I gave DeCarlo 30 seconds before the fight was over. Only it wasn't DeCarlo going down to the canvas. To my surprise, DeCarlo found some kind of inner strength. DeCarlo started pounding on Tyee dropping Tyee to the canvas for a 9 count and when she stood back up, DeCarlo ripped a huge left hook into Tyee's mouth and I don't think she woke up until the next day.
Claire Freeman Vs. Lisa Boyle
This fight started out promising as both women stuck it to each other. Battling each other for the top dog spot. They went at it, hitting hard and fast until Freeman head butted Boyle in the 4th round and it was then that Freeman started hurting Boyle more than she was receiving. In the 5th round, Freeman was having it all her way. Boyle could do little to stop Freeman. Freeman was hitting Boyle so hard that she bloodied her left cheek, and continued pounding on Boyle till she dropped her to the canvas. Boyle got back up after a short count and received more punishment from Freeman. Then Freeman hit her so hard in her ribs that she clutched them as she fell to her knees breathing heavily. She stayed down on the canvas until the count of 9 where she had to use the middle rope to help pull herself up. After the fifth round Boyle had her head in her gloves and seemed not to want to fight anymore. By the 7th round Freeman was having it all her way again as she continued to pound Boyle. It surprised me that Boyle lasted this long as she was placed on the canvas 5 times during this fight, which ended in a 7th round KO for Freeman. Freeman no longer has anything to prove to Boyle as she consistently beat her to a pulp.
Carolyn Smith Vs. Elysha Armstrong
Rock'em Sock'em! Two headstrong woman of the WEBA go at each other and all they want to do is try their best to inflict as much damage as possible to each other. Smith and Armstrong did just that, back and forth they punched at each other, and let me tell ya from where I sat I was hurting by the 2nd round. The first round was more feeling each other out and setting the pace for the rest of the fight. The second round was a whole different matter. Armstrong hurt Smith with a vicious punch that staggered her, but Smith came back with her own 1-2 punch and then she lifted Armstrong to her toes with a punch that I thought ended the fight. Armstrong fell flat on her face but managed to get up before the count got to 7. The third round was quiet but the forth round started heating up once again. Armstrong started the round with numerous punches that hurt Smith, Armstrong did a superb job in cutting off Smith and taking the fight to her, but Smith gathered herself and was able to get in a strong punch that stopped the advance of Armstrong. Smith followed up with a couple strong punches of her own and again placed Armstrong on the canvas. One would think that Smith was in control, but again Armstrong came back and hurt Smith once again and put herself back into this fight. The fifth round Armstrong again came out strong hurting Smith but smith just wanted to end it and she did with a powerful KO!
Paula Goodwyn Vs. Emma Waghorn
Both women faced each other in the middle of the ring. At the start of the first round Waghorn opened the bout with a shot to Goodwyn's right eyebrow. In a quick response, Goodwyn rifled back leather into Waghorn's face, and she continued pounding on her. Waghorn came out in the second round as if she would control the fight from here on out. She showed Goodwyn her boxing skills and determination, as she used the ring to her advantage to poke and prod away at Goodwyn. At the end of the round, Goodwyn caught up with Waghorn and stunned her with a right hook that left her jaw hanging open and if it wasn't for the bell, the fight would have ended there. Both women went at each other for the next 4 rounds. In the sixth round Goodwyn came out to put Waghorn away, punching her fiercely and looking to end it. Goodwyn was hurting her so bad, that Waghorn looked disoriented. Then out of nowhere Waghorn puts Goodwyn against the ropes and looks like she hurt her badly. Waghorn continued pounding on Goodwyn until she finally sat her on the ropes. She continued using combinations until she almost knocked her out of the ring. Coming off the ropes, Goodwyn placed a powerful uppercut into Waghorn and threw her off balance. Then she savagely began pounding on Waghorn. That ended the sixth round. Both girls continued going after each other up to the 8th round where a jarring uppercut placed Waghorn on the canvas and she never got up.
Sheryl Hammer Vs. Diane McFee
Can you say Rocky? Punches where flying, bodies began hurting, heads flew backwards and blood was a spewing. Sixteen rounds of hard punching and heartbreaking action. Hammer and McFee fighting each other, beating each other, heck you might even say that today was their divorce in a court of law with each one wanting to have it all and not allow the other one to get anything. It all starts in round 1. Hammer would throw a punch, McFee would counter, Hammer would throw 2 punches, McFee would come back with 2 of her own. Both girls bobbing and weaving looking for openings. In round 2 Hammer wallops McFee with a vicious hook to her jaw and McFee responds by grunting very loudly! In round 3 Hammer throws a roundhouse that rung McFee's bell but she couldn't follow up on that one. As the fight went on, both girls continued pounding on each other, but in the 5th McFee peppers Hammer with combinations upon combinations. McFee rattled Hammer with shots to her face, and bone crushing shots to her ribs, but the Hammer wouldn't fall. McFee even held Hammer while punching her in the stomach. Again in the 7th round McFee tried to put the Hammer down, and again, was even holding her while punching her in the stomach. The Hammer's response to all this was slams, swats, and smacks into McFee's face. But at the end of the 7th round, it was the Hammer that was looking like she was getting beat, as she was all swollen in her face. McFee continued pounding on Hammer's face. A powerful hit to Hammer's right eye caused it to start bleeding. But the Hammer still wouldn't fall. In the 10th round it seems the Hammer had had enough. She must have been using some kind of martial arts technique for she did a roundhouse right that sent McFee's mouthpiece flying to the canvas followed by McFee. It looked like McFee was out, but she managed to get up by the 8 count, but she still didn't know where she was at. Just like the Hammer, she refused to go back down, but she paid the price as Hammer returned a favor to McFee by making her left eye bleed! Both girls continued pounding on each other, neither one giving ground until the 16th round, when the Hammer dropped McFee to the canvas with a hook to her body for an 8 count, and as soon as McFee got up, she placed her down for good!
Melody Washington Vs. Brigette Amundson
You want to talk about heart, do you want to talk about willpower, determination, a never-say-never-die attitude, well then this is the fight you should have seen. We have Amundson, recently returning after a triumphant A-B Tournament, to the A-League and we have Washington who had an outstanding tournament record, also go to the A-League. Both women knew that by having this fight, one would be sitting out on the next A-Card. Thus, hindering their advancement to a title shot. But did that matter? Did that cause them to pause? No it did not. As the first round started, Washington and Amundson went at each other like two cats fighting over a prey. Both of these girls threw hard punches landing authoratively on the other. For awhile there it looked like two robots standing facing each other pounding away. But soon Washington started doing more damage than what Amundson was doing. By the end of the first round Amundson staggered back to her corner. Her face was bloodied, her arms were sagging, and there was a cut above her left eye that required stitches. Washington continued pounding on Amundson throughout the second round inflicting more damage on an already bloodied Amundson. In the 3rd, Washington again came out with the intent of putting Amundson down. She continued to pound on her, but then something happened, a trigger went off in Amundson's mind, as she came back with a vicious left hook to Washington's midriff causing her to double over. But Washington went berserk as she started to regain her control over Amundson, but Amundson had had enough. She came back with another ferocious hook to Washington's body that sent her to her knees. Washington got up immediately and Amundson responded to that with another hook to her body that again sent her to her knees. It almost knocked out Washington as she barely beat the 10 count, and the bell sounded ending the 3rd round. In the 4th round again, Washington tried to put Amundson away. The more she beat on Amundson the more Amundson got pissed. Either it was luck or it was determination but somehow Amundson found Washington's weak spot. And that weak spot was her face, as an enormous left to Washington's right cheek caused her to stumble and a superb right to her jaw placed Washington on the canvas. Washington was hit so hard that her hair came undone, resulting in her face being covered, but somehow Washington managed to get back to her feet before the 10 count. But it really didn't matter, as Washington still must have been dazed. Amundson hit her low in her trunks setting her back down on the canvas for a 5 count. But again, Washington refused to stay down. She got up and Amundson just had a field day on her, putting her back on the canvas resulting in a knockout.
