The Springfield Stogies joined the Excalibur and the Gamblers when they defected from the league they were in to create the Green Diamonds League in 1997. The Stogies, then known as the Schnooks, took 4th place in that season but have had hard times keeping the winning going. The Stogies played for the league title in 2002 but in 2003 the Stogies  posted the worst season in league history .....so far. The 2004 Stogies made another run at a title but again were defeated by the Bombers for the championship. There have been rumors that it is the curse of the Bonds-bino! Pitcher C Carpenter tried to reverse the curse by bringing home some hardware during the 2005 season. The Stogies always seem to be right in the middle of it all when the races tighten up. The '08 season saw a .500 season an a 3rd place finish. No new hardware but the Stogies were one of 4 teams to lose their 1000th game as a franchise.
