Game Recap
SAN JOSE 2, DALLAS 2 (OT)

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Jere Lehtinen had a goal and an assist as
the Dallas Stars tied the division rival San Jose Sharks 2-2
Wednesday night.

The Sharks, undefeated in five games (3-0-2), managed just eight
shots on Dallas goalie Ed Belfour through the first two periods _
but two of them went into the net.

The Sharks cracked the Stars' defense with 12 shots in the third
and six more in overtime, but they were unable to get around
Belfour.

San Jose struck early with top scorer Patrick Marleau's goal from
out in front of the crease just 2:37 into the first period.
Marleau has five goals and an assist in the past five games.
Darryl Sydor tied it for Dallas on a power play with 11:35 gone
in the period, taking his stick to a flying puck and swatting it
past San Jose rookie goalie Evgeni Nabokov.

Mike Modano got the assist, giving him three goals and five
assists in the past six games to tie his team-high six-game point
streak from Oct. 20 to Nov. 4. A little more than a minute after
Sydor's goal, Gary Suter's shot up the middle from a couple of
feet inside the blue line sailed past Belfour, who was tangled
with Sharks winger Tony Granato.

The Stars tied it at 2 with less than two minutes left in the
first on Lehtinen's power-play goal with Jeff Friesen serving a
penalty for cross-checking. Lehtinen also had an assist on
Sydor's goal.

Nabokov, the NHL's rookie of the month for November after going
8-2-1, was ranked second in the league with a 1.78 goals-against
average entering the game. He faced 33 Dallas shots.

Belfour, ranked third with a 1.82 goals-against average, was
booed and taunted mercilessly by the San Jose crowd. The Stars
defeated the Sharks 4-1 last season in the Western Conference
semifinals.
