DALLAS' MIKE MODANO IS NHL'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH NEW YORK (Nov 3, 1997 - 16:40 EST) -- Center Mike Modano, who had 19 points during October in leading the Dallas Stars to a 9-4-1 record, was picked Monday as the NHL's player of the month. Modano's output included 9 goals and 10 assists, with three goals in a 7-0 victory over Chicago Oct. 10. Others considered were Philadelphia center Eric Lindros and goaltenders Grant Fuhr of St. Louis and Chris Osgood of Detroit.
