| July 8, 1999 - The Vienna Warhawks 13 Year Old Boys County
Select Team officially opened their 1999 summer season yesterday at Oakton High School
with a 76-34 win over Braddock Road. |
| After all the scheduling problems that delayed the start of the
season for the 13 year olds, Vienna came ready to play. Braddock Road was no match
for the Warhawks. Vienna started out in a 1-3-1 trap defense that caused several
early turnovers, resulting in 14-0 lead early in the first half. The Warhawks kept
the pressure on and led 49-16 at the half. Vienna went to a man-to-man half court defense in the second half with similar results. Every Vienna player scored during the game and made significant contributions on defense. Chris Holmes led the scoring with 16 points followed by Chris Wood (14), Brent Locey (10), Sawyer Sams (10), Brian Landry (7), Bill Chappell (6), Stuart Rawlinson (6), Ray Sparrow (5), and Dan Pitcher (2). The Warhawks next game is Tuesday July 13 at 8:30pm against Lee
