B.G., a.k.a. Baby Gangsta, has been making records practically since infancy. With four albums under his belt by the time he turned eighteen, New Orleans-based B.G. has proven to be hip-hop indie label Cash Money's most prolific artist. B.G.'s first four solo albums, True Story, Chopper City, It's All On You, Vol. I, and It's All On You, Vol.II, sold over 600,000 copies collectively without any radio or video airplay. B.G. also contributed to the Hot Boys' 1997 release, Get It How You Live.

B.G. is maintaining New Orleans' signature bounce style, not to mention the hedonism and materialism that most of Cash Money's artists have come to represent.

Cash Money, a New Orleans-based independent label boasting a roster that includes artists like Juvenile, Hot Boys, Big Tymers, and B.G., signed a lucrative national distribution deal with Universal Records in 1998 after seven years of hard work in the South.

This merger affected B.G.'s popularity when he released his first nationally distributed album in early 1999, Chopper City in the Ghetto, on the new Cash Money/Universal label. Already an underground hero in New Orleans, Chopper City in the Ghetto solidified B.G.'s following in the South and the Midwest and won him rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
