The Blackhawks started 4 years ago to offer a higher lervel of play for our kids.  We started as an 11-year-old team just playing in a summer league.  We had such a great time, we have spent lots of time trying to grow.  We registered as a club with NIHA and USA Hockey Inline and aquired a permit to use the Hockey facilities in Howell Township.  We are members of the Howell Sports Federation. The Blackhawks have run free clinics for the past three summers. The Blackhawks have played in the Continental Airlines Arena and the Core States Spectrum.  In 1998 our tournament teams played in events from Boston to Florida where we played in Disney World., Key West and Tampa Bay.  During 1998, we registered teams in 3 age groups in 15 roller hockey tournaments / age divisions in what we call The Blackhawks 1998 East Coast Tournament Tour.  Our Ice Hockey division has played in 3 tournaments including the Can-Am games in Lake Placid.  There is so many things we have done over the past four years we can't even begin to tell you about it all.  Look around the web page and see all we have done.

When 1998 ended we had a 12-U team, a 17-U team, a 14-U team and 14-U tournament team.  As 1999 begins we are proud to welcome a 5th team to our club.  Our brand new 8-year-old team.  We are thrilled to have such a great group of families involved with our newest and youngest team.  In the past we have won tournaments with 8-U teams, but this is our first attempt a full time team.  The older Blackhawks welcome you to the club and wish you the best of luck.  We have had a lot of success in the past and we look forward to more in the future.  We hope that all of you can be a big part of that future.

Watch this web site for updates and information on the Blackhawks.  We try to update it as time allows.  The commitments of being involved so many teams and having my weekends tied up from January to April (and lets not forget work) prevents me from timely updates.  Anyway welcome to the club 8-U's and good luck.

Our Final Record is 7-2-1

Game 1 Blackhawks 6 - Sharks 1

A new era began for the 8 & under BlackHawks as they opened their season with an 6-1 victory over the Sharks. The team put on an offensive show that had them out shoot the Sharks 25 -10 which included 4 goals by Marc Moskowitz and one each by Alan Barnstead and Joey Estenes.

The real key to the victory was the defense which limited the Sharks to only 10 shots. The defense was lead by the great hustling of Zak Piccoline, Joe Schoenberger, Ralph Mazzoni and Anthony Masterardi.

The team showed their experience by maintaining their positions on the offense and defensive sides of the rink. Sean Davdelin, Nicky Micciulli, Travis Mascitelli, Steven Alfano, Tim Johnson & Mike Leiro provided great passing, defense and intense forechecking which had the Sharks wishing the were swimming back to San Jose.

Jonathan King was increadible between the pipes as he turned away 9 Shark shots including two crowd pleasing saves.

Good luck to the Little BlackHawks the rest of the season.

Game 2 Blackhawks 6 - Independants 2

The little Blackhawks won their second game in as many try's by defeating the Independant team 6-2 in league play at GoodSports.

With an aggressive style of defense, the BlackHawks limited their opponents to just 2 shots while taking 17. Marc Moskowitz set the tone of the game by starting it out with a natural hat trick. After some end to end play, Nicky Micciulli had a great assist to Travis Mascitelli to make it a 4-0 game. Alan Barnstead kept his scoring streak going with his 2nd in as many games. Tim Johnson who was one of the stars of the game, celebrated his birthday by scoring a goal from a nice feed from Mike Leiro. Steven Alfano show great speed constanly putting pressure on the opposing teams defense.

Zak Piccoline was a one man show putting on a speed skating show causing problems for the other team. For the 2nd game in a row Johnathan King had a solid game in the nets.

The victory according to coach Ed Micciulli would not have been possible if it was not for the defensive play of Anthony Mastornardi, Sean Davdelin, Ralph Mazzoni and Joey Schoenberger.

Game 3 Jaguars 8 - Blackhawks 1

The undefeated blackhawks played against the undefeated Jaguars for first place and were totally out sized, outplayed, out-hustled on the way to their first loss of the season 8-1.

The Little Hawks seamed to have a tough time with the more experienced Jaugars. The Jaguars seemed to have ten players on the ice all game. Sean Daudelin was the only Blackhawk to score.

Game 4 Blackhawks 3 - Sharks 3

The Sharks were a different team than the one the Little Hawks beat the first game of the season. They jumped out to an early lead but Marc Moskowitz tied the game with a beautifull goal from the slot. The Sharks countered right back only to have Alan Barnstead knot it up at 2 apiece. The game finished in a 3-3 tie. Great game by both teams.

Game 5 Blackhawks 8 - Red Wings 1

It looks like the players are starting to play together as a team. They are playing their spots and learning to pass the puck. The goal scorers in this 8-1 contest were Marc Moskowitz- 3, Joe Estenes1, Alan Barnstead 1, Sean Daudelin-1, and Nick Micciulli chipped in with his first of the season.

The defense played as well as have played all year lead by Zak Piccoline, Ralph Mazzoni, Anthony Mastonardi and Joe Schoenberger.

Game 6 Blackhawks 3 - Jaguars 1

In a contest pitting the top 2 teams in the league, the Blackhawks were seeking revenge from an 8-1 blow out to the Bigger and older Jaguars. Well after the team worked real hard the last three practices to prepare for this match, they came to play like it was the 7th game of the Stanley cup finals.

The Blackhawks controlled the game with great stick handling and passing lead by Travis Mascitelli, Nicky Micciulli, Sean Daudelin and Steven Alfano. The puck control and floor positioning was something that was worked on in practice and it paid off.

Coach Ed Micciulli thought the difference in the game was the play of the defense who shut down the Jaguar odd man rushes that hurt them big time in the first meeting. The defense was lead by one of the stars of the game Ralph Mazzoni, Zak Piccoline, Joey Schoenenberger and Mr. Defense, Anthony Mastonardi.

The leagues leading scorer Marc Mosckowitz took a great assist from from Nicky Micciulli to beat the Jaguars goalie with a great shot to the glove side. Five minutes later Marc used his blazing speed to create another opportunity for himself to put the Blackhawks up 2-0. The team was minus 2 players and coach Ed Micciulli had to shuffle the lineups. Joe Estenes, Marc Moskowitz and Alan Barnstead were asked to double shift to help the team.

With the fore checking of Alan Barnstead and Joe Estenes, they caused problems all day for the Jaguars. Joe was able to steal the puck and go in and "top shelf" one for a 3-0 lead. The Jaguars lone goal came with 4 minutes left in the contest.

The coaches were please with the way the team came back from losing the first game to the Jaguars and overcoming the blowout to totally getting the mental edge back in their favor. It was a total team effort.

Good luck next Game Blackhawks. Travis Macetellli, Nicky Micciulli and Steven Alfano have shown great improvement in their overall game. Keep up the good work!!!

Game 7 Blackhawks 4 - Sharks 0

The Blackhawks improved there record to 5-1-1 this weekend with a 4 - 0 rout of the Sharks. After the Sharks tied the Blackhawks in game 4 and a possible 1 round opponent in the playoffs, The Blackhawks wanted to win to win the game to get that mental advantage.

The teams success this season has been based on team defense. All 14 players have contributed by playing their positions, back-checking and all out hustle. Johnatan King played his best game of the season in goal as he stoped all 12 Shark shots for his first shutout of the season.

On the offensive side Marc Moskowitz had another great offensive goal scoring game scoring a hat trick. Marc has a great nak for controlling the pace of the game with his speed and puck control. Joe Estenes continued to be one of the most consistant players on the team. Game by game Joe has picked up his all around play. Joe has scored 6 goals in the 7 games and has played some defense when ask to.

Alan Barnstead & Joe Schoenberger were this weeks "Star of the Game" for their efforts. Alan always plays with that "Eye of the Tiger attituded" which has lead to his success and Joe continues to improve his play on the defensive side.

Ralph Mazzoni, Anthony Mastronardi, Zak Piccoline and Joe Schoenberger have made the difference for the team, holding opponents to few shots and helping Johnatan in front of the net.

Tim Johnston, Trave Mascitelli, Sean Daudlin, Steven Alfano, Nick Micciulli and Mike Leiro have pick their game up a notch recently. Steven has dished many great passes to his teamates to provide them with good scoring opporunities. Travis and Timmy have Played great two way hockey skating, stick handling and defense. Sean, Mike and Nicky have really complimented each other this season on the same line.Sean has played center and defense great while Mike shows great speed and rink awareness. Nicky has the nak for hitting the open man with the puck while exciting the fans with several breakaways.

Wow!.......We are so impressed with what the 8-U is doing. When we started the Blackhawks 4 years ago we played in a league and we did not have a goalie. Therefor we decided to emphasize defense FIRST. It has worked so well for us, that you have seen our track record. Now I read that the 8-U's are playing a great smothering defense. The 12-U and the 14-U team are real proud of all of you (the players and the coaches)....... Great season so far guys.......Frank.

Good luck next week Blackhawks!!!!

Blackhawks 6 - Independants 2

The Blackhawks prepared for the upcoming playoffs with a 6 - 2 stomping of the Independants. The leagues leading scorer, Marc Moskowitz had a "natural" hat trick on his way to a 4 unassisted goals. Coach Ed Micciulli has gotten great play from his centers Marc, Joey Estenes and Sean Daudelin all season. They've put lot's of pressure on oppossing defenses with thier increadible offensive skills.

Zak Piccoline who has been one of the most consistant players for coach Ed this season chipped in with two unassisted goals. Zak has sacrificed and playyed mostly defense this season and has proven to be a true team player.

Alan Barnstead who has been showing great improvment each an every game continues to be on the way to being a great "power" player.

Coach Ed feels his teams success this season has been due to the solid defensive play of Joey Schoenoenberger, Ralph Mazzoni, Anthony Mastronardi and Zak.

Steven Alfano, Tim Johnson and Travis Mascitelli have been solid all year for the Little Hawks. Mike Leiro and Nicky Micciulli are the youngest players in the league but fear none as they continue to battle and skate past older and more experienced players.

Good luck in the playoffs !!!

Playoff game 1 Sharks 2 - Blackhawks 1

The hot Blackhawks faced the surging Sharks in a first round playoff game. The Blackhawks were 2-0-1 this season against the Sharks but that didn't mean anything as the Sharks handed the Hawks a 2-1 lose.

The Hawks were without one of their superstars, Joe Estenes due to illness and it seem hurt the offense. Mark Moskowitz, the leagues leading scorer started the night off as he roofed one past the Shark goalie for a 1-0 lead.

The Sharks deserve a lot of credit for victory as the out hustled and out smarted us. Good luck in the championship game.

The Sharks tied the game up and ultimately went up by one . The Blackhawks could not generate any offense as they made several "mental mistakes" which hurt them.

Coach Ed believes his team is on the right track and will be the team to beat in the future. Good luck guys in the last game.

Consolation game Blackhawks 3 - Red Wings 1

The Blackhawks played their final game of their first season together beating the Red Wings by a score of 3-1. The leagues leading scorer, Marc Moskowitz scored to put his team up 1-0. The Red Wings who have been improving all year tied the score at one, only to have Marc put what was to be the game winner in past the Red Wings goalie who played a great game. Zak Piccoline scored late on an unassisted goal late in the game to "ice" it.

Coach Ed was proud of his teams progress this season. They worked hard in practices and started to get acclimated to the sports court surface and puck. In their first season they posted a 7-2-1 record.

Congratulations to all the Blackhawks and looking forward to the upcoming summer season.

Congratulations to Marc Moscowitz for winning the leagues scoring title. WE ARE ALL REAL PROUD OF YOU.
