Game Schedule
We have limited the roster size this season to give the players more skating time.
We are carrying a few players on the roster as extra players to be used in an emergency.
It is important that you let us know if you will be missing a game ASAP.

Game 1 - Friday September 18 at 9:00 Blackhawks 13 - RollerDawgs - 3
We make new friends were ever we go. Including here. We have limited the SKATERS on this roster to just the kids we plan to bring into the National Tournament picture in 1999. In these tournaments we will still use a combination of Steven, Kevin and Stu. The three best goalies in Jackson. The rules here are more similar to the tournaments and will help us prepare for this style of play. There are a lot of really good teams here, so we will have our work cut out for us. We won this game 13 to 3. Goals were scored by just about everyone. (Okay, I don't know who scored!) Kevin Schweer was given a real long shift. He was told he had to play until he got a goal. 10 minutes and about 8 shots later, he got that goal and was allowed to sit. We really played great, but I think the other team took us lightly and should give us a much harder time next time.

Game 2 - Friday, September 25 at 9:00 Blackhawks 9 - Stars 2
We looked good again. The usual "suspects" scored goals. Defense was solid and Kevin played another great game in goal. It was Frankie's turn for a real long shift. He was told he had to play until he got a goal. He played the final 8 minutes without a goal, but he sure tried hard. This is a great place to play. This is a direct (almost) quote that I entered as per one of our parents. Everyone is allowed to play hockey. Playing the body here does not always get you a trip to the penalty box. The refs here seem to know when a player is being dirty or aggresive.

Game 3 - Friday, October 2 at 7:00 Panthers 10 - Blackhawks 6
BAM That was the sound of reality hitting. We were not prepared for this game. We arrived late thanks to the traffic on Main Street. The Panthers warmed up for 5 minutes before our first player took the floor. By the time we were warmed up, they had a couple of goals and we found oursleves losing for the first time in Toms River. The Panthers hit Kevin in the chest with a slapshot 8 seconds into the game. Ouch. These guys were big. Late in the game both teams took a lot of penalties which kind of ruined what was a great hockey game. Even though we lost, I felt that I saw a greatly played game. It was a great learning experience for us. The Panthers parents were real psyched that they beat us. I found myself standing near them and the rumors I heard about us were impressive. I wish we were as good as the rumors I heard. I did enjoy it.

The highlight of this week was the kid from the RollerDawgs who waited for our players after the game and busted their chops. I was a witness to this and he actually was stupid enough to curse out Jason and and Cody. Cody, in his own way, told this kid what he could do. This kid continued to to follow Cody around and harrass him. To my surprise, Cody did not go after this kid. We are proud that Cody kept his cool, but I feel sorry for him when we play the RollerDawgs again.

Game 4 - Friday, October 9 at 6:00 Blackhawks 11 - Blaze 1
Back on top again. We played real motivated. Okay, I missed this game so I can't review it. All I know about it is what Frankie told me. After 4 years of playing hockey, Frankie got his first hat trick the night before in Jackson. The only thing better was the 4 goals he got tonight. And I missed it. He says everyone played great. Kevin was awsome in goal. Victor really helped Frankie get that hat trick as he kept setting him up.

I got lazy and stopped updating this site. It is now 2/12/99 and I am playing catch up as best I can.

Game 5 - Friday, October 16 at 8:00 vs. Shore Sports
We won big

Game 6 - Friday, October 23 at 6:00 vs Flyers
Yup another big win.

Game 7 - Friday,  October 30 at 8:00 vs Vipers
We mercied them early in the second. We were surprised, becuase everyone said this was the team to beat. They sure looked good

Game 8 - Friday, November 6 at 9:00 vs RollerDawks
Another huge win for us. That big mouth kid that harrassed Cody after the Panthers loss followed it up by putting a stick across Codys chest. WHAT CLASS!

Game 9 - Friday, November 13 at 9:00 vs Stars
We won big.

Game 10 - Friday, November 20 at 6:00 vs. Panthers
Avenging our only loss we came out fired up. No traffic this week to delay us, or did we really figure out how to get around the traffic. It doesn't matter, we were on time and ready to play. The Panthers sent us an e-mail that week and basically said they we the beeter team and they were going to beat us. We won this game 12-2.

The top four teams made the playoffs which were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Not good for us since we have major commitments on weekends. If we didn't have those commitments, we would have played in Allaire also. This weekend we played an ice hockey scrimmage on Saturday morning and followed that up with our first playoff game in Toms River, four hours later.

Semi Final game - Saturday
We don't remember who the team was but we won this game 10-0. On to the championship game.

Victor had an ice hockey game far away on Sunday. Frankie had a ski team meeting in the Poconos on Sunday and Matt, Kevin, Cody, Danny and Jason had ice hockey games scheduled around the game time. The league rescheduled it for Tuesday night at 8:00, the night of our Jackson Arcade fund raiser.

The Championship game against the Panthers
At 3:00 the league called us and told us the game has been moved to 7:00. We tried to keep it at 8:00, but they said it was 7 or a forfeit. The Panthers parents wanted to win this game by forfeit. Fortunately the players and coaches wanted to play. They knew they were a good team and felt they could beat us. I think they had the right attitutde, it is a shame their parents didn't beleive in them. Anyway we had the fund raiser, but most of the kids were playing hockey. I ran it alone, and missed most of the game. I arrived in time to see the last 4 minutes of game. We won the championship 4-1, so I can't say much about it. We recieved yet another e-mail fromthe Panthers. "How did Scotto like my hit on him?" was the message. Our answer to you is

"Sorry, none of us noticed. We all play ice hockey where checking is allowed and we have learned to take it (as well as give it back). Not only did "your hit" make no impact on anyone, your e-mail fired us up. That is probably how we won that game. For your efforts, we have selected you Star-of-the-Game"".

On the season, we outscored our opponents 107 to 27. We won by mercy 7 times, and only scored less than 6 goals once. Not bad considering we had 4 offensive playes and 6 defensive players on the roster. Even better when you realize that we had only two 14-year-olds on the roster. Frankie, Billy, Cody, PJ and Kevin (our goalie) are 12-years-old. Vic, Danny and Jason are 13.
