Game Schedule

Game 1 - Monday October 5 at 7:00 Blackhawks 9 - Snypers 1
We played a great game. The Snypers have dramatically improved their team from last season. Their coaching staff is the best we have ever seen. As usual John Arena offers the kids some great coaching and new coach Stu Jacobson, offers some sound advice. Some new players that have been added to this team will turn this team into a winner real soon. Last season the Snypers had a coach that made a WHALE of a scene during the last game. For the Snypers sake, we were glad to see that they improved the coaching. Anyway, as much as they improved, it was unfortunate that they had to play us in the first game. No matter how we do each season, we "almost" always win our first game big. After that game we usually drop back to reality. We peppered Stu with shots this week, which is something we hate to do to him. I suppose all the shots that he blocked would help him preapre to win us a National Title in Tampa Bay. I don't remember who scored this night, but I suspect we can assume the usual goal scorers scored. The surprise was 10-year-old Tommy who scored late inthe game. He was honored to be part of the "big team" and played like he deserved to be on it. The debut of the Billy, Tommy, Victor line had to be delayed a week since Billy was sick and missed the game.

Game 2 - Monday, October 12 Blackhawks 6 - Dragons 0
We played another great game. The Dragons played a great game also. They are a much improved team since last season. Once they "learn each other" this is going to be a good team. The score does not reflect this game accurately. We took a lot of shots and their goalie made lots of saves. But they took lots of shots too, and Steven made lots of saves. We were only up by 3 late in the game when we got 3 late goals to pull away. We have always been great finishers. Victor and Jason each scored 3 goals (I think).

Tonight Jackson started announcing goals and assists. They also played music between plays. Sounds great. Next week, they said they would accept a copy of Blackhawk Rock II and they promised us, they would play, here come the Blackhawks.

Game 3 - Monday, October 19 at 6:00 Blackhawks 3 - Bruins 2
This week was a guaranteed tough game. We were playing the Bruins, who we always play tough but rarely win. The Blackhawks have a long history with some of these players. We played against some of them in our first season in Brick. One of them "endeared" himself to Donnie Bielak with that infamous clothesline where we had to carry a hurt Donnie off the rink. And we got a penalty for it. Anyway it was a hard fought game where any mistake was going to cost someone the game. We were killing a penalty late in the game and we figured this was where the mistake was going to be made. We were right. Except it was not our mistake. A bruin lost the puck with Victor, waiting at the line, behind the defense. We got the puck to him. What could be better for the Blackhawks than finding Victor behind the other teams defense. I'll tell you what could be better. Victor with the puck, behind the defense. Victor scored and we won the game. I don't remember who scored the other two goals and I don't have the stats. Sorry. We are undefeated (3-0) and have outscored our opponents 18 to 3. The Blackhawks welcome Matt Cibery back to the team. This was his first Jackson game he has been able to play since coming back from hernia surgery. Welcome back Matt.

However, due to typical Jackson bullsh*t, this might be his last 14-U game. Over the summer, Jackson changed the age cutoff. It used to be your age on the first day of the season. Which always was a lousy way to do it, since Jackson was always screwed up and was never able to start on time. Over the years, many teams lost many players this way. Over the summer they decided to finally follow USA Hockey rules of the age on July first. That enabled us to keep Matt and Matt on the roster. After the third game (Jackson has had our full roster since game 2) they decided that Matt was too old since they were following the old age cutoff. We will most likely have to forfeit this game since they changed the rules and we did not know about it. We however, will probably pull the 14 and 17 year-old teams out now, which should be the final nail in the coffin, burying those two leagues. They can not play with 3 teams. The 12-U team will probably follow their lead and not return next season. As a side note to this, some of our parents were very unhappy with the officiating in this game as well as many others. When they complained to the rink manager he said he didn't care and that he didn't care if teams left because of it. OPEN YOUR EYES. EVERYONE IS LEAVING, BECAUSE OF THIS ATTITUDE. YOU ARE DOWN TO 16 TEAMS FROM A HIGH OF 39 A YEAR AGO. A 60% DROP. NO GOOD BUSINESS CAN SURVIVE THIS.

I got real lazy updating the site. It is 2/12/99 and I am playing catch up. I don't remember scores just results.

Game 4 - Monday, October 26 at 6:00 vs Snypers

We won.

Game 5 - Monday, November 2 at 7:00 vs the Dragons
We won this one also.

Game 6 - Monday, November 9 at 6:00 vs. the Bruins
We lost this game 5-2.

Game 7 - Monday, November 16 at 6:00 vs. the Snypers
We won.

Game 8 - Monday, November 23 vs the Dragons
We won

Game 9 - Monday, November 30 - vs the Bruins
A hard fought game. Jason was hurt and should not have played but he did anyway. His bad ankle prevented him from skating and it showed. We had 6 players come off the rink hurt during this game. Frankie came off twice. Once after he was checked and hit his head on the ground. He came off with a bloody nose. The next day he was having problems and we took him to the Dr. She yelled at us for not taking him to the hospital, because the bloody nose can be a sign of a concussion. Billy got hurt when he took a stick to the stomach and followed by a cross check. It was pure animal hockey. We came from behind to tie the game at 3 when Brian scored a goal with 30 seconds left.

Game 10 - Monday, December 7, Championship game
Blackhawks 3 - Bruins 1
We played outstanding defense this game. Not a lot of shots, but when the Bruins took shots, Steven was outstanding in goal. We won the game, but could not celebrate. With 10 seconds left, Brian held the puck against the wall with his stick. He should have cleared it, but he didn't. For his mistake he earned a few punches from a Bruins player. Naturally the game ended ugly.

We finished the season 8-1-1 and scored a lot more than we gave up. After this season, it looks like some old faces will be leaving. We hate to see you leave. It's a shame, but I suppose these things happen.
