Napoli's second scudetto Napoli's second scudetto was won in 1990 prior to the World Cup which was held in Italy. This scudetto proved to be much harder to win. Napoli started well but eventually got caught by Milan and overtaken, who were in outstanding form. Going into the last two league games Napoli and Milan were tied on points, Napoli won away to Bologna and Milan lost away to relegation threatened Verona, this gave Napoli the edge and virtually secured the title. The protagonists of this scudetto were Alemao, the Brazilian midfielder alongside Nando De Napoli, a warrior type player; Andrea Carnevale, a big strong centre forward; Ciro Ferrara, the Neapolitan right back, Giovanni Francini and of course Maradona and Careca.
