Let Us Sing
It was a beautiful Sunday morning and the windows of the church were open providing a wonderful view of the river.  This did not go unnoticed by the preacher.  In this morning's sermon he wanted to discuss the evils of alcohol and his abhorrence of alcohol.  He was in rare form, and knowing he had his congregation went on to a rousing conclusion stating what he wanted to do with this evil substance,  "If I had all of the beer, I would take it and pour it in the river!  If had all of the wine, I would take it and pour it in the river!  If I had all of the whisky, I would take it and pour it in the river!!"

At this point the choir was to lead the church in song.  The choir director looked at the music she had prepared for the service and began fumbling for an alternative.  Though only a very brief interruption, it seemed to the director to be several long minutes. Not finding any suitable alternative, she sheepishly went along with the prepared music selection. She announced to the congregation, "Please join the choir in 'Let us gather at the River.'"
