Irish Cup Q-Final

Newry Town 1 Glentoran 3

At the Newry Showground's today the first half was the worst this season, with absolutely no creative play from either side and with the Glens looking embarrassing in front of goal it didn'tMcCann goes for a header make it much better, McCann missed an open net within the first 60 seconds Elliott doing well and his far post cross only needed McCann to side foot home into the open net with Connolly at the other side of the goal but he flashed his volley wide, McCann again had a chance when the ball fell to him outside the box 5 minutes later but again he wasted his chance by blasting over the bar.  Then came the goal from Scott Young screamer from 25 yards the corner came Elliott headed down for Young to volley home with the left foot past the flying Connolly into the far corner of the net, and on the verge of half time McCann made it 2 when his half hit shot squeezed past Connolly who seemed to dive over the ball.

Half Time Newry 0 Glentoran 2

Elliott loses out this time to the KeeperThe second half started like the first half did, the Glens missing a few early opportunity's, but Elliott made amends for earlier missed when he powered home a great header from the cross of McCann.  The Glens knew they were through and took the foot of the pedal, and decided just to play around with the home side, but it has to said that the Newry Town team was quite possibly the poorest side we have faced this season in all competitions, with no options at all up front apart from the monstrous Withnell who did nothing they didn't even force Gough to make a save until the last minute when they scored a scrappy header the ball coming in and Fitzgerald headed past Gough who some for reason didn't even try and go for it.

A comfortable win, we have been drawn against Dungannon Swifts or Scumfield who have to replay, so the Semi Final will look like this

Glentoran v Dungannon Swifts and Coleraine v Portadown
