GLENTORAN 2 LISBURN DISTILLERY 0
Both sides today were desperate to gain the three points today, and both for very different circumstances. The Glens to climb the league, to get into a European Qualification position and the Whites to get themselves out of the relegation zone, and in the first half the bottom side showed allot of heart and enthusiasm making it hard for the Glens to play their football and they really didn't test the Distillery goalkeeper ex Linfield man David Henry until the 44th minute. A quickly taken corner by Tim McCann was played short to Scott Young, he passed the ball to the edge of the box to Nixon, his looping cross was brilliantly headed down by Elliott and Ian Gilzean turned smartly and tucked his left foot shot into the far corner of the net.

The visitors missed a couple of relatively easy chances in the second half through Finlay and Arthur and the Glens missed a few themselves. Tim McCann and Alistair McCombe both hitting the woodwork and Hamill, McCann again and Young also coming close. With 15 minutes remaining the best player on the pitch Tim McCann was substituted to a ring of boo's from the Oval crowd, McCann's disappointment was obvious to see, and Rainey came on to boost the Glentoran attack further and he was involved in the second goal with his long range effort, Henry could only parry and Elliott was quick to respond and he stroked the ball neatly into the net.
