Little's Big Impression
Glens See Off Woeful Blues
Glen Little wasn't even listed in today's match programme but at the end of 90 minutes he was the name on everyone's lips.
The 20 Year Old Midfielder tore the lightweight Blues to pieces as Glentoran celebrated their first Big Two victory since April 91. Not surprising then that Little was walking tall after his first Windsor Park outing.
Glens Boss Tommy Cassidy expects no less from the Wimbledon based workhorse. Cassidy said "Glen was exceptional again but we expect that of him, he's got quality.
The back four deserve special mention. John Kennedy has been a revelation since his arrival and Colin Nixon who's just 17 has a great future. We thoroughly deserved the result. Infact it could have been more but the main thing is that we got three points and we did it in style. Dugald McCarrison came here with a big reputation inside the box. Today was the first time he showed it and I'm delighted for his said Cassidy.
The Glens were a class apart. The Blues were a poor second best, Infact they were lucky to get nil such was the Glens domination from start to finish. Eddie Cunnigton set the ball rolling in the 32nd minute when he played a neat one-two with Dugald McCarrison and crashed home a right foot screamer. The biggest surprise was that it took until the 81st minute before number two arrived. Little was the catalyst, weaving his magic along the right before Justin McBride added the final touch. McBride then turned provider and McCarrison benefited with his first goal which guarantees him a future at the Oval. Linfield's woe was complete in injury time when the man Little strolled through for his just rewards. Linfield can have no complaints. They were pitifully poor. Trevor Anderson has a long hard winter ahead if he is to pull things around.
Having said that it didn't help his cause having both Dessie Gorman and and Darren Erskine limped off injured.
