Blade Styles:
Willowleaf
The willowleaf style blade is an excellent choice for clear or slightly stained waters. The willowleaf gives off less vibration than the colorado or indiana style blades so it won't spook wary fish. Another benefit of the willowleaf is it's slim profile allows it to be be ripped through vegetation easier than colorado or indiana.
Colorado
The Colorado style blade throws of a lot of vibration which makes it a good choice for muddy water or nighttime fishing. It's also a great choice for "slow rolling" when fish aren't actively biting because it's gives of good vibration even at slow speeds of retrieve.
Indiana
The indiana blade is a hybrid of the colorado and willowleaf styles
and is best suited for warm, discolored water when the fish are actively
biting.
Blade Color
A general rule of thumb is to use silver blades in clear water and
copper in stained. If you are fishing extremely clear water try some
of the metalflake painted blades. These blades give of less flash
and disperse the reflection better.
Skirt color
When choosing skirt colors try to match the color of your local forage.
If you're not sure what the local forage is a safe bet is to use white
in clear water and chartreuse in stained.
Head Shapes
If you plan on throwing a spinnerbait into vegetation you will want
to choose a head shape that is narrow in profile. The narrow profile head
will rip through the weeds much cleaner that a round head shape.
Choose round heads when you are fishing timber or rock structure.
