Welcome to the Ottawa Valley Racers (OVR) club home page. The OVR is a radio control model boat club operating in the Ottawa Valley area, the nation's capitol. Our club operates in association with the International Model Power Boat Association (IMPBA), our official governing body which sets the rules and regulations under which we compete and also provides our group insurance coverage. The aim of the OVR is to foster good sportsmanship and camaraderie through model boat racing. Club races are held on average once a month, with two yearly District 1 races held attracting racers from all over North America.
All classes of hulls are raced and we encourage you to bring out your boat and have a go. The OVR has a strong following in the 20 and 40 outboard tunnel hulls, sport 40 and 1/8th Scale classes. We also now have several club members racing the large ¼ scale tunnel hulls. They certainly look impressive on the water. Our race boats are all nitro powered race hulls. A growing interest in large scale gas is also beginning to show its head and we may have enough interested boaters soon to run proper heats.
If you are interested in the exciting and challenging sport of radio control model boat racing and require further details, please feel free to contact one of the members listed below. Visitors are always welcome and we encourage you to drop by and ask questions.
Everyone is welcome, boaters and non-boaters alike. If you are curious about racing nitro powered model boats or a newcomer to this side of the hobby, please come by and see how exciting R/C model boat racing can be. We encourage you to bring your boat(s) with you to the pond completed or not. If you have questions just ask any one of the members. After all, we were once rookies too!
Fun Days are just that, bring out your boat(s) and have fun. There are no scheduled races and you have a great opportunity to test out different setups. Kick back and relax!
Fun Runs are club race events with heat racing setup for any hull class with three or more entries. This is purely a race day with no testing until after all heat racing has been completed.
We have also set dates for our 2000 I.M.P.B.A. sanctioned races. Our first race of the year will be help the weekend of May 13-14/00 with our fall event scheduled for September 2-3/00. Both races are held over two days and will take place rain or shine at our club race site. We provide an onsite canteen and have an excellent race site for both competitors and spectators alike. Bring your video camera and capture some exciting race footage.
