12. Andrew Kennedy
Andrew Kennedy is the team Captain. Andrew is one of the best players ever who played in Israel, and I'm not saying it because I'm a galil fan. Ask many related to basketball people and they all will agree this.
Andrew Kennedy was born in Jamaica. He played in the University of Virginia. After that, he was picked in the NBA draft of 1987 in the second round, by Philadelphia 76ers. He played in the CBA and in the Phillipines. In 1988 he went to Spain, and a year later he played for the first time in Israel, in Hapoel Galil Elyon. He left a year later to the Italian second league but only to come back to Galil in 1991/1992 season and win the second National Cup of the team. He stayed in the Galil on the next year, which was the Champioship season of the team. (1992/1993). After that Historic season he went to France, and then came back to Israel in 1994/1995 season to play in Hapoel Eilat. In 1995/1996 season he came home to the galil, and he stayed in the galil until now.
Andrew won with the team 2 titles from all the 3 of it. He won the National cup in 1991/1992, and the First-ever championship (Hope that not the last one) in 1992/1993. He was picked to the MVP of the Israeli league in 1995/1996, while Hapoel Galil Elyon surprised everyone and finished 3rd in the league and got to the semi-finals in the National Cup. (That year some people thought that Galil will finish in the last place and will drop to the second division... well, eat your heart! ).
Andrew is playing as forward, Position No. 4. He has a great hand for Half-distance shots and he has a great shot while he makes a fade-away in the air. Andrew is the leadrer of the team. He knows the court in Kfar Blum better than his own hand, and no one can stop Andrew scoring in the court, especially not in the Galil. Andrew also know to play defence very well. He doesn't block too much, but he knows to steal and to avoid the ball from the players he defences.
Andrew is not only a great player but a great person too. He took himself the job to help Galil's young players in 1995/1996 season, and to lead the team all the way to the 3rd place.
Andrew Kennedy, is with out a doubt, the best player Galil Elyon ever had and all the fans love him very much. Good Luck Andy !
