Dec--25 Merry Christmas. I hope you all got what you wanted. I recieved the McGwire Record Breaker SLU and some packs, including 5 packs of 98 topps chrome football
What A Pick!
I got what I wanted, and was lucky to get it. I hope you all are this lucky
Nov--23 Hello. This week I went to a show to get Kerry Wood's autograph, which I did. I also noticed some stuff at the show. It was the last day, so I didn't see many Sosa or McGwire SLU's. I did see a lot of their rookie cards, and I bought Sosa's Major League Debut for 12 dollars. Sweet. I also ended up buying a Moss Ex-2001 for 25 dollars. I would have bought his chrome for 40 dollars, but it wasn't chrome, it was regular, so I didn't. Overall, I got what I wanted, and saw some stuff. I saw lots of Mosses, Sosa's and McGwires. I almost bought a Leaf Ultra 1 for 10 dollars, but I held off.
Nov--2 Halloween has passed. I hope you didn't pig out on too much candy. Nothing has come out at all around here. I have heard of people pre-selling cases of 99 Baseball, but I have no idea who's in the set. If you have any idea, then please email me at tedman23@yahoo.com
Oct--12 Kenner has announced its extended Football set, which include: Davis, Terrell Broncos Sharpe, Shannon Broncos Alstott, Mike Buccaneers Leaf, Ryan Chargers Manning, Peyton Colts Sanders, Deion Cowboys Martin, Curtis Jets McNair, Steve Oilers Woodson, Charles Raiders Harbaugh, Jim Ravens
Sep--18 Sorry about the lack of posts, but not much happened. I was one of 40,000 lucky fans last Sunday to see Sammy Sosa hit 61 and 62, plus I got the Gracie the Swan Beanie with a card with Mark Grace. As you now know, Ty has been retiring 1-3 beanies a day. So far, Snort, Daisy, Blackie, Puffer, Bruno, Stincky, and Ringo have been retired. Around here, I have found the second case of extended Baseball SLU's, but I wanted to find the Sosa, which is not easy to do in Illinois. Hopefully I find it cheap somewhere. Besides that, Canton Collection and Hockey have come out. Not much exiting in those sets, except the Lombardi figure. I took out the lists of what I have because of so many requests for me to sell the stuff, which I didn't want to do. I'm happy I got to see history and get a beanie out of it, and I've hoped you have enjoyed watching the home run race.
Aug--8 The National came to Chicago this weekend. In case you didn't attend it, this is what you missed. The hottest item was professionally graded 1985 Topps Mark McGwire, and Beanie Babies. Other hot items were the 1990 Leaf Sammy Sosa, Disney Beanies, 1987 Donruss Mark McGwire and Greg Maddux, and newer SLU's (Terrell Davis, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan). I Bought the 1987 Donruss McGwire and the 1990 Sosa. Also, Press Pass had a redemption of 20 wrappers of certain wrappers for an autographed card of Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf. I did not get this, but this promotion went quickly.
July--20 Not much happening. I've seen one 1998 Basketball figure. I recieved my SLU newsletter with the Montana Freeze Frame.July--4 Happy fourth of July! The 1998 Football starting lineups are out. I saw Marino, Bledsoe, Smith, Farve, Freeman, Grbac, Collins, and Brunell. Also, Glory the bear is being given out at the all star game in Coors Field, Colorado. I have no chance of getting this. Some people are pre-ordering this for $500!May--31 Topps chrome basketball has come out, and are selling for $7-$8 a pack. The Duncan and Van Horn are about $70-$80 a piece. This is too much for me to spend on one card, so I cannot get one. I could spend 7 dollars on a pack of four cards, but the top rookies are not easy to find. I may have to pass on this set. I don't know about you, but 70 dollars on one card is too much.May--30 The new beanies have been announced. They are Ants the anteater, Early the robin, Fetch the golden retriever, Gigi the poodle, Glory the bear, Jabber the parrot, Jake the mallard duck, Kuku the cockatoo, Rocket the bluejay, Stinger the scorpion, Tracker the basset hound, Whisper the deer, and Wise the owl. Also, most Mcdonalds have sold out of their first shipment and second shipments (if they got a second shipment) of teenies. The set is going for $60-$80 online right now, so it isn't too bad.May--23 Mcdonalds offically has the new beanies, and they are selling quickly. I am lucky to have about six or seven Mcdonalds near hear, so I was able to pick up 12 of the 12 new teenie beanies.May--13 I went to a show in Lake Geneva, WI. The hot things at this show were Zip the Cat, along with Mark McQwire's 1985 Topps Rookie Card, which was $45-$60, Kerry Wood Bowman Chrome $30- $35, (This has gone up about $10-$15 online after he set another record, for K's in consecutive performances) and quality Duncan/Van Horn rookie cards (Ultra, Finest, Bowmans Best) I bought the Kerry Wood card, which is impossible to find anywhere here in Northern Illinois. I have already made a good buy. I suggest that you get his chrome card while you still can.May--4 Nothing happening around here, accept for the retirement of 28 Beanies and the announcement of Clubby for the Ty Club. The 28 retirements are: Twigs, Peanut, Quackers, Scottie, Weenie, Bones, Zip, Inch, Pinchers, Inky, Ziggy, Rover, Squealer, Lucky, Patti, Gracie, Waves, Stripes, Hippity, Ears, Blizzard, Baldy, Echo, Happy, Hoppity, Jolly, Waddle, and Floppity I was able to get 22 of the 28. Hope you are as lucky.Apr--22 Nothing much happening around here. The big news is that Kenner may produce a small Basketball set of about 16 figures in June. No new players will be made, but there will be another Kobe figure. Also in June, Football will start coming out. I personally finally recieved my two B'Omarr Monk Star Wars figures.Mar--28 A lot of Star Wars figures have come out. The first is the 12 inch Sandtrooper with white shoulder pad, which was in Toys R Us. The next is a 4.5 inch figure with a medalian. The last thing to come out finally around here was the Princess Leia collection. I spend some more money on cards, ($18 on 1996-97 Bowman's Best Antione Walker and $10 on 1996-97 Topps Chrome Michael Jordan). The last thing I saw was 8 1997 Starting Lineup Dennis Rodman's at Walmart. I bought one.Mar--23 A card show in Rosemont proved several things. One is that vintage cards still are popular, along with starting lineups and beanie babies. It also proves that Star Wars are dying down, because I saw about 4 out of 350 tables with star wars figures. I spend my money on a card for $30. It was the 1996-97 Bowman's Best Basketball Kobe Bryant rookie. Kobe's SLU was going from $80-$90. Get it now, before it's too late.Mar--16 A lot of stuff came out this weekend. The Star Wars 6 inch figures are out in stores for $12.99. At Toys R Us, they Purchase of the Droids. The third collection of 4.5 inch figures including stormtrooper and Vader with removable helmet are also out. In starting lineups, the first cases of Basketball extended, Timeless Legends, and Stadium Stars are out. I only found the Anthony Mason extended figure of the basketball, but I found the entire cases of the other two. I bought a Mahommad Ali and Stadium Star Cal Ripken Jr. which is one to the first case of Stadium Stars.Mar--9 At a local card shop, they have some of the new Basketball extended figures. Some of those for sale are Duncan and Van Horn-$27, Longley-$20, and Jones-$16. I also have found a webpage with the case assortments for the 98 Baseball figures. It is at The Slu EmpireMar--3 The new Star Wars Final Jedi Duel and new figures with the slide from the movie are out. The cinema figure is currently selling at $35 to $36 around here, and the new figures are about $15. I have not seen these in stores yet, but the Princess Leia collection figures are going for about $22 in a local card shop. The top two Starting Line-up figures to get right now are 1997 Terrell Davis and the 1996 Basketball extended Kobe Bryant. Get them while you can. I have the Davis, and may get the Kobe for $65.Feb--23 The new 98 Star Wars Figures are starting to come out. I have seen the ones with a slide from the movie at two places, Toys R Us and Wal-mart. I expect that they will come to more stores soon. If you want to see pictures of the new Star Wars figures, then go to www.hasbro.com and look under Star Wars. Also, I was able to get the new beanie Hissy the Snake for $12.00. Now all I need is Stretch the osterich, which I hope to find for under $10.00. I found out this weekend that Libearity the Bear has reached the $400 mark. This is unbeliveable to me, because I remember a time that it was about $60. I guess I am lucky to have it.Feb--17 I found two more fourth cases of Basketball at Toy Works and both of them had everyone except Marbury. I picked up another Camby and Allen, and I returned one of the Allen's I had because he was damaged. I also finally got the elusive 97 Terrell Davis. I was given him as a Valentines Day gift. I gave that person a flower music box in return. Just today I saw the two mistagged new beanie lizards for $10.00 and I bought bothFeb--7 I found the fourth case of Basketball at Toy Works except for the Marbury and two cases of 1998 Baseball, including Griffey, Ripken, Alex Rodrigez, and Thomas. I bought the Marcus Camby, Ray Allen at Toy Works, and Ken Griffey Jr. and Marc Newfield at Wal-Mart.Jan--27 They won! The Bronco's are the SUPERBOWL WINNERS! Elway finally got his superbowl ring, and Terrell Davis got superbowl MVP. Now is the time to get Broncos merchandise and collectables. The one I suggest is Terrell Davis's 97 SLU.Jan--12 Went to a show this weekend and spend $25.00 on a 1997 Stephon Marbury. Some other things I saw was a Barry Sanders/Walter Payton for $90.00 and a Terrell Davis for $65.00. I went back about two hours later and they both were sold. I also bought a Bucky the Beaver for $12.00, so now I have the set of January retireds. On the way home I saw some 1998 Baseball and every Hockey One-on-One except the Gretzky/Hasek and the Osgood/somebody. These must be in the second case assortment. The other thing is that the BRONCO'S are going to the SUPERBOWL!!!Jan--7 I have finally seen the Hockey One-on-Ones. They are $20.00, but are real nice. I saw the Richter/Sacic and the Roenick/somebody thats not a goalie. Not much besides that, except for five Jeff Gordons and a John Force, which I bought.Jan--5 I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmas. I did. I got a 1996 Mark Brunell and a Basketball Classic Double Bill Russell/Walt Chamberlin. Some events around here were that the third case of basketball came out, basketball backboard kings came out, and basketball classic doubles came out. I also found out about who the new retired beanies are. If you don't know, I suggest going to Ty's webpage. I had 7 of 9 to begin with, and bought the Nip the Cat for $10.00. Now all I need is the Bucky the Beaver. It is also nice to have triples of the 1997 Teddy the Bear, and the rest of the holiday set.Dec--17 I found the other three holiday beanies in the Gurnee Mills mall today. They were only being offered to kids, which is a good idea. I also found quite a few Cantina Showdowns at a local Walmart. I think that if you can find a Kordell Stewart from 1996 for under $40, then you'd best buy it. He is getting more and more popular. I was able to buy him for $8, but you won't be so fortunate. Still, get it while you can, because Slash is going to do good this year.Dec--15 I was in Kenosha and Gurnee this weekend. I saw all of the goalies from the second case assortment from Hockey, but no Gretzkys. I also was able to buy Gobbles the Turkey and Batty the Bat beanies for $10.00 a piece, which isn't to bad. I also bought all the goalies from the second case. Now the only good piece from 1997 Hockey I don't have is Martin Brodeur.Dec--8 I went to Kenosha, Wisconson this weekend, and stopped at the Shopko. They had the Classic Double Shopko exclusive, and a 6.5 inch Brett Farve exclusive with a Shopko sticker, but no Football or Hockey. This Saturday I saw some retired Beanies for $5.50 each, and I was able to buy a Speedy, Spooky, Valentino, Magic, Legs, and Flip. I got their to late to get the Teddy. I also got the Velvet for $10.00![]()
