Believe it or not boxball is an actual sport played in various parts of the world. It is especially popular in the east coast. Boxball resembles the game of tennis with a little twist.
Playing boxball is quite easy. To get started you need a few items. First of all you need a tennis ball. (Any color will do) Next, you need to find a flat area that can be divided into four large boxes. Then you need to find at least two agile friends. To play the game completely, four players are better.
1. Of the four players, each must stand in one of the four boxes.
2. One of the boxes is designated as the Starting Box where the players must rotate into.
3. One of the boxes, preferably next to the starting box, should be designated as the King Box.
4. The player in the king box has the serving privledges. To serve: the player must first bounce the tennis ball into his own box and then using his hand only hit into another players box. The server must serve the ball underhand.
5.As play continues each player must allow the ball to bounce in their box first before hitting it to another. After the ball was served, hitting the ball overhand is allowed.
1. If the tennis ball bounces in a players box more than once.
2. If the player hits the tennis ball into his own box at any time. (remember: the server is only allowed to hit the ball in his box only on the serve)
3. If the player hits the ball out of bounds, or out of the four boxes without the ball bouncing in someones box.
4. If the player does not allow the ball to bounce in his box first before hitting it.
6. If a player gets out he must go to the waiting line. Here, they must wait until they can rotate into the starting box.
7. If a player gets out the players remaining must rotate towards the king box. (For example: If the player in the king box gets out then the player in the third box moves into the king box. The player in the second box moves to the third box. The player in the starting box moves to the second box and a player from the starting line must move into the starting box.)
1. Spike- The spike is a very general move that most people can execute quite easily. It basically consists of hitting the tennis ball quite hard into another person's box, making it harder for them to return it.
2. Equator- Patented by the All-Star Cris Kanganis, the Equator is when you hit the tennis ball in a certain way that will create a backspin. When the ball hits another players box, the backspin creates the ball to bounce in an unexpected way. This makes it hard to return.
3. Drop Ball- When the ball is hit in the air near another person's box the Drop Ball can be executed. Instead of returning it quickly on the bouce you wait a few seconds and as the ball is ready to hit the ground a second time, you quickly place your hand out. The ball hits your hand and lands into another players box. If you successfuly completed the Drop Ball then there should be no bounce that the other player can play from.
4. Between the Legs Shot- Originated by Joe Jerman, the Between the Legs Shot is exactly that. After the ball bounces, and if your close to an opponents box, you hit the ball between your legs. This momentarily confuses your opponent because they expected you to hit it normally. In the confusion, the opponent is unable to return it. This shot is hard to master at first and it usually works, if executed nicely.
5. Behind the Back- Yet another shot first executed by Joe Jerman, the behind the back is a a hard shot to pull of. Only the best boxball players can do it. What happens is, when the ball bounces in your box you swing one of your hands behind your back and hit the ball into an opponents box. This totally confuses them because they were not expecting the ball to come there way.
6. Low Ball- Low Ball is not an actual shot but another way to play boxball. The idea is that all four players crouch down and play boxball that way. The objective is to keep the tennis ball as low to the ground as possible. Its not easy to maneuver around but it can create a fun vollie.
7. TwoHand Bloop- This move was accidentaly created by Dave Warmington, a boxball regular. What you must do is hit the tennis ball with both your hands as lightly as possible. This allows for the tennis ball to fall short and it makes it harder for the opponent to return it.
If anybody has any ideas for a new move please do not hesitate to let me know. Mail me at New Boxball Moves. Thanks!

The above Hall of Famers were inducted because of the finesse they all showed on the boxball court. Each one of them went far beyond what was nessecary. New moves were created and the entire game was changed because of the level of play of these eight. To become a boxball hall of famer you need finesse, style, agility, and all around goodness.
